Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method to recover constituent polymers in multilayer plastic films or mixed plastic wastes. The method comprises selectively dissolving a polymer in a solvent at a temperature, wherein the polymer is soluble, but other polymers in the multilayer plastic film or mixed plastic waste are not. The solubilized polymer is then separated from the multilayer plastic film or mixed plastic waste by mechanical filtration and precipitated by changing the temperature and/or adding a cosolvent. The process is repeated for each of the polymer component, resulting in a number of segregated streams that can then be recycled. Computational tools can be used to select solvent systems and temperatures that selectively dissolve different polymers from among all of the components.

An example aspect is configured to: validate at least one molecular force field, prepare a liquid electrolyte mixture corresponding to the at least one molecular force field, perform molecular dynamic simulations of the electrolyte mixture, obtain simulated molecular dynamic trajectories from the molecular dynamic simulations, and perform molecular structure analysis to predict ionic conductivity, ion pairing properties, solubility properties, and/or other thermodynamic properties of the liquid electrolyte mixture.

Abstract: The present invention relates to mixing raw materials from two or more aluminium metal sources from a Metal Base. The Raw material is categorized ("R", i = 1-n) and stored in a database from where candidate alloys are randomly proposed by a computer and each single Candidate alloy entity is categorized ("C", j= 1-m). Candidate alloys having a CO2 index that is above a set threshold can be discarded for further evaluation. The remaining candidate alloys are further evaluated and qualified with regard to their ability to fulfil the actual functions of use, for instance as a specific product and followingly a set of Qualified Candidate alloys ("QC", k = 1-m) can be defined. The invention also relates to a product produced by the method.

Abstract: A method for toxicological risk assessment of a medical implant device, the device for implant into the body of a mammal, comprising: a) inputting device-specific data into a physiologically based toxicokinetic (PBTK) model for the distribution of a substance in the mammal into which the medical implant device is to be implanted, wherein the device-specific data are parameters characterising the medical implant device and/or its behaviour; b) determining, from the PBTK model, a time dependent function for the concentration level of the substance in a tissue, organ, biofluid and/or excreta of the mammal; c) determining, using the time dependent function for the concentration level of the substance, the maximum of the concentration level during a predetermined time interval; d) comparing the maximum of the concentration level with a predefined exposure threshold for the tissue, organ, biofluid and/or excreta; wherein if the maximum of the concentration level exceeds or is equal to the predefined exposure threshold, then identifying the medical implant device characterised by the device-specific data as having an unsatisfactory toxicological risk; or if the maximum of the concentration level is less than the predefined exposure threshold then identifying the medical implant device characterised by the device-specific data as having a satisfactory toxicological risk.
