摘要: The present application is directed in various illustrative embodiments to an optical waveguide, an optical waveguide system with such an optical waveguide, a light energy storage structure, light confining structures, a light energy storage system and an energy storage and/or conversion system with such an optical waveguide system. In an aspect, an optical waveguide is provided, comprising an optical fiber with a fiber core and an optical active cladding structure over at least a portion of the fiber core at a first end of the optical waveguide, wherein the optical active cladding structure comprises a Bragg mirror stacking having a high transmittance in a first wavelength region and a high reflectivity in a second wavelength region of wavelengths longer than wavelengths in the first wavelength region, and a wavelength conversion coating over the fiber core of the optical fiber. The wavelength conversion coating is configured to convert radiation with wavelengths in the first wavelength region into radiation with wavelengths in the second wavelength region and the Bragg mirror stacking is disposed over the wavelength conversion coating.

The devices and methods disclosed herein may provide improved temporal control over photonic energy discharge as compared to conventional fluorescent or phosphorescent materials. The devices and methods disclosed herein may provide mechanisms for on-demand photonic energy which may be used to generate light or may converted to electrical energy. A device of this disclosure may comprise a phosphorescent material and a fluorescent material. The phosphorescent material may be configured to absorb photonic energy. The phosphorescent material may store the photonic energy, or the phosphorescent material may transfer the photonic energy to the fluorescent material. The fluorescent material may be configured to emit photonic energy, which may be converted to electrical energy.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a photovoltaic module comprising a photon absorbing material for absorbing electromagnetic radiation. The photon absorbing material comprises solar cells and a glass material. The photovoltaic module also comprises an anti-reflective coating that has anti-reflective properties in a first wavelength range and reflective properties in a second wavelength range. The anti-reflective coating is positioned over the glass material. The anti-reflective coating comprises a layered structure that has layers that together have an out-of-sequence or non-graded refractive index profile. The present disclosure also provides a selective reflector comprising a layer of a glass material that is largely transmissive for visible light and comprises dopants that absorb incident electromagnetic radiation in a wavelength range at a centre wavelength, which is within a wavelength range at which the atmosphere of the Earth absorbs electromagnetic radiation strongly and more strongly than in an adjacent wavelength range. The refractive index of the glass material at and around the centre wavelength is altered by the strong absorption of the dopants such that the reflectance of the glass material within at least a portion of the first wavelength range is increased if that portion of the first wavelength range is adjacent to the centre wavelength.
