Abstract:
A feed system for a biomass collection device uses a conveyor for dropping a flow comprising a mixture of denser or heavier biomass to be collected such as cobs, and less dense or lighter biomass residue such as leaf trash, through a space, and rotary feed apparatus below for receiving the flow, operable for propelling the received flow into a collection device, in combination with a fan configured and operable for directing a flow of air along a second path intersecting the first path in a manner to divert at least a substantial portion of the less dense or lighter biomass residue away from the feed apparatus, while allowing substantially all of the denser or heavier biomass to continue along the first path to the feed apparatus for feeding into the collection device. Distribution apparatus along the second path can then be used to spread the diverted biomass.

Disclosed is an improved grain unloader for off-loading (unloading) grain from a grain bin carried by one or more of a combine or a grain cart. A second grain movement assembly is coupled in parallel to the first grain movement assembly so that both grain movement assemblies can simultaneously off-load the grain bin. A third grain movement assembly feeds the second grain movement assembly. The first and second grain movement assemblies move together from a stowage position to an unloading position. The third grain assembly can only feed the second grain transfer assembly when the second grain assembly is in the off-load position.

A biomass conveying and distributing system for separating and distributing lighter biomass residue from heavier or denser biomass, utilizing available air flow from the cleaning system of the harvester. The harvester will discharge a flow of heavier or denser biomass with an airborne flow of lighter biomass residue. The system includes a conveyor for receiving and conveying the heavier or denser biomass, and residue distributing apparatus disposed above the conveyor in a path of at least a portion of the airborne flow of lighter residue, including at least one deflector configured and operable for redirecting the airborne flow sidewardly away from the conveyor, above a passage through which the conveyor passes carrying the heavier biomass away from the harvester.

An improved combination of a powered combine carrying a combine grain bin for housing harvested grain and a towed grain cart carrying a grain cart bin for housing harvested grain includes improved harvested grain transfer between the combine grain bin and the grain cart bin and improved off-loading of harvested grain from the combination. A generally horizontally disposed first grain movement assembly is pivotally connected to a second grain movement assembly, which in turn is pivotally connected to a vertically disposed grain movement assembly in the grain cart, such that the rear end of the second grain movement assembly moves in all horizontal directions, but not in the vertical direction. The first grain movement assembly has an arcuate trolley ahead of the pivoted joint with the second grain movement assembly. An off-loading grain movement assembly is disposed for off-loading grain only from the combine grain bin.

A self-propelled beetroot extractor (1) comprising a travelling mechanism (3) provided with a front axle (2); extractor devices which are arranged in front of the front axle (2) and which, over a working width of said beetroot extractor (1), take up beetroot from out of the ground and transfer said beetroot to a transversal conveyor device (6) which is also arranged in front of the front axle (2); also comprising a conveyance and cleaning section (8) extending in a longitudinal direction of the travelling mechanism (3) and in a vertical position thereto, on which section the beetroot protrude from the transversal conveyor device at a width of conveyance which is at least one third smaller than that of the working width, an automatic conveyor device (9) transporting the beetroot away from the transversal conveyor device (6) via a front wheel (4) of the front wheel axle (2); additionally comprising a bin (11) for the cleaned beetroot on the end of the conveyance and cleaning section (8). The automatic conveyor device (9) conveys the beetroot through an operational area (18) of the active cleaning devices (12) . At least one drive mechanism (22) is associated with the cleaning devices (12).

Broadly, one aspect of the present invention is an articulated combine (10) having increased grain storage capacity (e.g., 1,200 bushels) and which is composed of a forward unit (12) having an operator's cab (15), an engine (18), a grain harvesting assembly (16), a grain transfer assembly (26) and being devoid of an on-board grain bin; and a rearward unit (14) jointly attached to the forward section and having steerable and powered wheels (30, 32), an on-board grain bin (28) for receiving grain from the forward section grain transfer assembly and a grain off-loading assembly. The grain transfer assembly (26), joint (22) and grain off-loading assembly and controls form other aspects of the present invention.
