Abstract: Die Erfindung betrifft eine Vorrichtung (2, 302, 402, 502, 602, 802) zur Bearbeitung einer Oberfläche (4) eines Werkstücks (6) mit einem Laserstrahl (8, 8'), mit einem Lasersystem (12, 12') zur Bereitstellung des Laserstrahls (8, 8') und mit einer Plasmadüse (14, 14'), die zur Erzeugung eines atmosphärischen Plasmastrahls (16, 16') eingerichtet ist, wobei die Plasmadüse (14, 14') einen Düsenkopf (22, 22') aufweist, aus dem im Betrieb ein in der Plasmadüse (14, 14') erzeugter Plasmastrahl (16, 16') austritt, wobei das Lasersystem (12, 12') und die Plasmadüse (14, 14') so zueinander angeordnet und eingerichtet sind, dass der Laserstrahl (8, 8') im Betrieb aus dem Düsenkopf (22, 22') der Plasmadüse (14, 14') austritt, und wobei der Düsenkopf (22, 22') um eine Rotationsachse (R) rotierbar ist, die schräg und/oder versetzt zu dem im Betrieb aus dem Düsenkopf (22, 22') austretenden Plasmastrahl (16, 16') und/oder zu dem im Betrieb aus dem Düsenkopf (22, 22') austretenden Laserstrahl (8, 8') verläuft. Die Erfindung betrifft weiterhin ein Verfahren zum Betrieb einer solchen Vorrichtung.

The laser source is adapted to achieve high average power and a high frequency of picosecond pulses. The laser source can produce a line¬ shaped beam either in a fixed position or in scanning mode. The system can be operated in a dry room or vacuum environment. The system can include a debris removal mechanism, for example, inert gas flow, to the processing site to remove debris produced during the patterning process.

Abstract: A structure depicting an image, the structure comprising a substrate defining a reference plane and a plurality of features. The plurality of features comprising perforations in the substrate wherein the interior material of at least some of the perforations is retained on the substrate by one or more tabs. The interior material of each perforation can be moved about the one or more tabs to change the angle of inclination of the interior material relative to the reference plane of the substrate so that some features on the substrate are inclined to a different angle relative to other features on the substrate. The inclination of each feature can be adjusted over the substrate to correspond to an amount of light required to be reflected by that feature to represent an individual pixel of the image so that the overall effect is formation of the image at the viewing location.
