Abstract:
The present invention relates to an article comprising a material, preferably macromolecular, metallic or mineral, having a surface containing at least one zinc oxide and/or salt and at least one antioxidizing agent. The invention also relates to a process for the production of said article.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composition comprising a modified cellulosic surface having aliphatic fatty acid molecules and amine-silica particles that are covalently bonded to cellulose fibers of the cellulosic surface. Also disclosed is a process for increasing hydrophobicity of a cellulosic surface, which comprises: providing a cellulosic surface comprising cellulose fibers; and grafting a plurality of aliphatic fatty acid molecules onto the cellulosic surface to yield a modified cellulosic surface having increased hydrophobicity. Also disclosed is a process for increasing hydrophobicity and surface roughness of a cellulosic surface, which comprises: providing a cellulosic surface comprising cellulose fibers; depositing amine-silica particles onto the cellulosic surface; and after the depositing step, grafting a plurality of aliphatic fatty acid molecules onto the cellulosic surface to yield a modified cellulosic surface having increased hydrophobicity. Also disclosed are products comprising the compositions and modified cellulosic surfaces of the present invention.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Maleinized imide polymer resins, optionally in solution and optionally comprising metallic salt of a,ß-ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid, the polymer being selected from the group consisting of butadiene homopolymer, butadiene copolymers, isoprene homopolymer, isoprene copolymers, and poly(maleic anhydride-co-alkenyl benzenes), are used to treat fabric and thereby improve fabric to rubber adhesion. Treated fabric and fabric-rubber composites and specific uses are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A fiber cement composite material providing improved rot resistance and durability, the composite material incorporating biocide treated fibrous pulps to resist microorganism attacks. The biocide treated fibers have biocides attached to inner and outer surfaces of individualized fibers to protect the fibers from fungi, bacteria, mold and algae attacks. The biocides selected have strong affinity to cellulose and do not interfere with cement hydration reactions. This invention also discloses the formulation, the method of manufacturing and the final fiber cement products using the biocide treated fibers.

Abstract:
A method for producing a treated fiber product, which comprises the steps of (1) preparing a treating liquid containing a water and oil repellency agent, (2) adjusting the pH of the treating liquid to 7 or lower, preferably, to 3 or lower, (3) applying the treating liquid onto a fiber product, (4) subjecting the resulting fiber product to steam treatment, and (5) washing the fiber product with water, followed by dehydrating, wherein the water and oil repellency agent comprises at least one fluorine-containing compound selected from the group consisting of a fluorine-containing polymer and a fluorine-containing low molecular weight compound, and the water and oil repellency agent or the treating liquid comprises an organic salt. The method can be used for producing a fiber product exhibiting improved water and oil repellency.
