Abstract: An apparatus comprises reset circuitry to perform a cold reset and to perform a warm reset by resetting a subset of state that is reset the cold reset, and branch recording circuitry to perform branch recording to store, in branch record storage circuitry, information about processed branch instructions. The branch recording circuitry determines whether warm and cold branch recording configuration values held in at least one register satisfy a predetermined condition; and when the warm and cold branch recording configuration values fail to satisfy the predetermined condition, branch recording is disabled. The branch record storage circuitry is configured to make the information about the processed branch instruction available for diagnostic analysis. The cold reset comprises resetting both of the warm and cold branch recording configuration values, and the warm reset comprises resetting the warm branch recording configuration value and leaving the cold branch recording configuration value unchanged.

Abstract: A computer system hosting (micro)services that uses a service mesh to govern communication between the services. The services include consumer services and an event stream service, the latter directing an event stream from a producer service to the individual consumer services. The control plane of the service mesh has the role of creating and removing service instances. Based on a specified event capacity that is to be provided by the consumer services collectively, the control plane manages service provisioning by estimating the current event capacity of the system. This is done by measuring the event capacities of each consumer service instance and summing them, from which any shortfall or excess of the current event capacity in relation to the specified event capacity can be determined. Consumer service instances are then added in case of a shortfall or removed in case of an excess as needed to avoid over or under-provisioning.

Abstract: Techniques for collaboratively executing runbook sessions are disclosed. A system provides for collaborative completion of runbook operations by delegating runbook operations or by transferring ownership of a runbook from one user to another. A system identifies a first set of runbook operations capable of being completed by a first user. The system identifies a second set of runbook operations that are not capable of being completed by the first user. The system identifies a second user capable of completing the second set of runbook operations. Upon completion of the first set of runbook operations by the first user, the system determines whether to delegate the second set of runbook operations to the second user or to transfer ownership of the runbook session to the second user. The system determines that the runbook session is completed based on the combined results collaboratively generated by the initial user and the alternate user.
