A user configurable variable mode pulse indicator provides a user the ability to influence outputs indicative of a pulse occurrence at least during distortion, or high-noise events. For example, when configured to provide or trigger pulse indication outputs, a pulse indicator designates the occurrence of each pulse in a pulse oximeter-derived photo-plethysmograph waveform, through waveform analysis or some statistical measure of the pulse rate, such as an averaged pulse rate. When the configured to block outputs or not trigger pulse indication outputs, a pulse indicator disables the output for one or more of an audio or visual pulse occurrence indication. In an OCT system, the autocorrelation signal depends only on the strength of the signal in the object arm scattered back from a patient's retina and is a result of different reflections from different layers of the retina interfering with each other. The strength of the autocorrelation signal depends on how well focused the system is. Normally the autocorrelation signal is treated as noise. However by removing the reference path signal, the autocorrelation signal is easily measured and analyzed. The optimal focus can the then be found by adjusting the focus value until the autocorrelation signal is maximized.

Using a Bluetooth communication channel for point of sale processing simulates a near field communication connection. A contactless device and the point of sale reader establish an unsecure communication channel. The user taps the contactless device with a point of sale terminal reader. The contactless device creates receive signal strength indicator (“RSSI”) value spikes. The terminal reader measures the RSSI values and transmits them to the contactless device, which determines if the RSSI value reaches or exceeds a threshold configured for the contactless device. If the threshold is reached, the terminal reader and the contactless device establish a secure communication connection. The devices communicate via the secure communication connection, and the connection is terminated when a request to terminate is received.

According to one or more implementations of the disclosure, packets may be transmitted in a low power and lossy network (LLN) by receiving, on a first node, a message from a sending node, and by activating a critical message configuration to be applied in routing the message. A message identifier (e.g., signature) for the message may also be received or gleaned. The message identifier can be compared at the first node to a list of stored message identifiers, created based on routing history, to determine if the message has already been received. As such, if the message has not been received at the first node previously, a first parent and a second parent for the message are identified and the message, along with the critical message indication, can be transmitted to the first parent and the second parent, thereby achieving redundancy in the routing of the message.

There is proposed a mechanism by means of which information can be generated and used for estimating and identifying at each base transceiver station of a communication network the set of other base transceiver stations generating interference on certain monitored component carriers used by the base transceiver station, i.e. information for the generation of the incoming uplink background interference matrix. For this purpose, a specific communication information set, referred to as uplink radio load map, is determined which informs about an average (time/frequency) and aggregated (over all or group of served UEs) uplink load measure per component carrier. Based on the uplink radio load map received via suitable signaling from other base transceiver stations, each base transceiver station can determine the incoming uplink background interference matrix and initiate, if necessary, suitable measures for reducing interference per component carrier.

In overview, the various embodiments describe methods for configuring a nodeB to recognize tuneaway events and to operate in a manner that mitigates the adverse effects of user equipment (UE) tuneaways on network capacity. In the various embodiments, the nodeB may detect that a UE is periodically tuning away based on the periodic, characteristic nature of the drops in the UE's signal strength. When the nodeB recognizes that a UE is performing periodic tuneaways, the nodeB may implement various resource management strategies while the UE is in a tuneaway gap to minimize the impact of the UE's tuneaway gaps and may resume normal resource management operations when the UE is not in a tuneaway gap. Thus, the various embodiments enable the nodeB to determine and manage the effects of a UE's tuneaway gaps, thereby increasing network capacity, optimizing power management, and enhancing the overall user experience.

A paging procedure implemented by a base station avoids transmission of unnecessary page messages. In a first embodiment, a first base station is notified by a mobile switching center when a paging request is sent to a mobile station via a second base station. The first base station does not page the mobile station, but stores a paging parameter in memory. When the first base station receives a page response message from the mobile station, it correlates the unsolicited page response message with a paged mobile list to determine a corresponding paging parameter, and forwards the page response message with the stored paging parameter to the mobile switching center. In a second embodiment, the first base station pages the mobile station and then sends an immediate paging response to the mobile switching center without waiting for a page response from the mobile station to terminate the paging procedure at the mobile switching center.

The second data transfer unit (RN S/P-GW 8) terminates a relay-station data bearer provided between a relay station (RN 2) and the second data transfer unit, and transfers user data between a first data transfer unit (UE S/P-GW 6) and the relay station (RN 2) by associating a mobile-station data bearer provided between the mobile station (RN-UE 3) and the first data transfer unit (UE S/P-GW 6) with the relay-station data bearer. When a belonging destination of the relay station (RN 2) is changed from the first base station (DeNB 1-1) to the second base station (DeNB 1-2), a relay-station mobility management unit (RN MME 7) changes a path of the relay-station data bearer, which is terminated by the relay station (RN 2) and the second data transfer unit (RN S/P-GW 8), so as to pass through the second base station (DeNB 1-2). It is thereby possible, for example, to change base stations without interrupting communication of a mobile station (RN-UE 3) during operation of a relay node cell.
