A monofrequency signal is used to record signature properties of subsurface reservoir formations. While recording conventional Vibroseis data after certain prescribed distances, the monofrequency signal is transmitted to evaluate the presence of reservoir rocks underneath that source location. When a compressional wave travels through a permeable and fluid-saturated reservoir formation, the Drag Wave travels through reservoir fluid interconnections at a slower velocity than the compressional wave in the rock matrix. Due to the Doppler Effect, a unique lower frequency is generated. This lower frequency becomes an indicator of the presence of reservoir formations. Its character depends on the tortuosity of pore interconnections, presence of pore fluids, and permeability. A transfer function is calculated to convert the swept frequency signal used for conventional seismic recording. This converted swept frequency signal is cross-correlated with the normally recorded signal. Only the presence of the reservoir formation is highlighted; non-reservoir formations are not displayed.

Control methods of a dialysis machine for allowing the dialysate-side detection of a recirculation in an arteriovenous shunt of a patient during ongoing hemodialysis are described. A sensor is arranged downstream of a dialyzer and detects a change of a physicochemical parameter PD of outflowing dialysis fluid. Control elements are provided to guide the dialysis fluid in a selected manner through the dialyzer or pass it by. Recirculation may be determined by passing the dialysis fluid by the dialyzer so that the dialysis fluid is guided unchanged along the sensor for calibration, switching the control elements after optional sensor calibration such that the dialysis fluid flows through the dialyzer, and adjusting a desired first blood flow value BF1 in the blood-side extracorporeal circulatory branch so that between an inlet of the extracorporeal circulatory branch and an outlet a recirculation R and, a first clearance K1 are adjusted and the parameter detected by the sensor adopts a corresponding value PD1, changing the first blood flow value BF1 to a second blood flow value BF2, wherein a second clearance K2 is adjusted, and accordingly at the sensor a new parameter value PD2 is provided and detected, and determining the recirculation R by the course of change from the parameter value PD1 to the parameter value PD2.

A saw for pivoting a blade in a sagittal plane. The saw includes a drive assembly with at least one drive member. The drive assembly is configured to both reciprocate the blade in the sagittal plane and to simultaneously pivot the blade around an axis that extends through the sagittal plane. The drive assembly is configured to reciprocate and pivot the blade at different frequencies. Consequently the teeth (186) of the blade travel in a loop pattern that crosses itself.
