Near-to-eye displays within head mounted devices offer both users with and without visual impairments enhanced visual experiences either by improving or augmenting their visual perception. Unless the user directly views the display without intermediate optical elements then the designer must consider chromatic as well as other aberrations. Within the prior art the optical train is either complex through additional corrective elements adding to weight, cost, and size or through image processing. However, real time applications with mobile users require low latency to avoid physical side effects. Accordingly, it would be beneficial to provide near-to-eye displays mitigating these distortions and chromatic aberrations through pre-distortion based electronic processing techniques in conjunction with design optimization of the optical train with low weight, low volume, low complexity, and low cost. Further, it would be beneficial to exploit consumer grade low cost graphics processing units rather than application specific circuits.

Embodiments relate to converting spatial features to a map projection. Initially, a map request that specifies the map projection for a geographic area is obtained. A spatial feature is identified for projecting into the map projection. Until a bisect threshold is satisfied for each line segment in the spatial feature, a bisect is determined for each of the line segments; each line segment is projected into the map projection; and if the bisect threshold is not satisfied for a line segment, the line segment is divided into subsegments, where the bisect threshold specifies an error distance for the line segment after projection. The modified spatial feature is projected into the map projection to obtain a projected spatial feature, and a polar coordinate system that corresponds to the map projection is used to render the projected spatial feature in a spatial map.

This file or files is input into a program which identifies an index in each of the images. Or, the video file or an audio file is input into an audio analyzer or speech recognition software to identify spoken words or sounds that each indicate an index. Each index with its timestamp is written into a chapter file in order and saved into storage of a computer. Filtering removes duplicates. A video player combines the chapter file with the video file and the images to play the video file.
