摘要: The present invention relates to a data processing apparatus and method and to a program in which a user can reliably record desired data. An instructed recording start point B indicates a position at which AV data captured when the user gives an instruction to start recording is recorded. An instructed recording end point C indicates a position at which AV data captured when the user gives an instruction to finish recording is recorded. Extra pre-AV data before the instructed recording start point B and extra post-AV data after the instructed recording end point C are recorded. Accordingly, the user can record required images (sound) more reliably, and thus, the possibility of the user missing desired images (sound) is decreased. The present invention is applicable to a video image recording apparatus.

摘要: This invention concerns a data storage medium in the form of a CD (1) which is writable one or more times. The CD (1) consists of a disk-shaped CD body with a layer (3) for data storage and a chip (12) and a CD coupling element (11) for contact-free transmission of data between the chip (12) and a data processing device. The CD coupling element (11) can be designed as a coil, an electrostatic coupling surface or as an optical coupling element. For reading out the data stored on the data storage layer of the CD (1), the CD (1) can be inserted into a CD drive. The CD drive has a drive coupling element (51) which similarly to the CD coupling element (11) is designed as a coil, an electrostatic coupling surface or as an optical coupling element and sends to or receives data from the CD coupling element (11). In one embodiment of the invention, the CD coupling element (11) is not integrated in the CD body, but in a pressure plate (65) of the CD drive which revolves with the CD (1) and contacts contact surfaces (6) positioned on the CD (1) to establish electrical contact with the chip (12) of the CD (1).

摘要: Since disks of the same type are loaded in a disk device using a conventional disk changer scheme, the disk device is not versatile as a peripheral device of a computer. ROM disks and RAM disks are mixed and stored in a magazine, and this magazine is loaded in the disk device. In the disk device, a tray is identified in step (c) by a detector arranged on the tray to check whether the tray be a ROM disk or a RAM disk. Thereafter, discrimination information is recorded, together with the contents information, on an IC memory Ml arranged on the magazine in step (k), or the discrimination information are recorded, together with the identification code of the magazine, on a memory 5 in step (p). Thereafter, when the magazine is loaded again, the discrimination information is read from the IC memory M1 or the memory 5, and an operation corresponding to each disk is performed.
