Methods and devices for dispersion of clusters of somatic plant embryos suspended in a liquid are disclosed. The methods comprise i) subjecting the clusters of embryos to fluid dynamics forces causing axially extensional strain and radially compressional strain and ii) subjecting the clusters of embryos to fluid dynamics forces causing axially compressional strain and radially extensional strain fluid dynamics and iii) repeating said steps in sequence until the individual embryos are separated from each other. The devices may comprise a flow channel including at least one constriction, such that clusters of embryos flowing through the flow channel are first subjected to axially extensional strain and radially compressional strain, and then to axially compressional strain and radially extensional strain from fluid dynamics forces.

The present disclosure relates to a high molecular weight, monoesterified polyimide polymer. One method as described herein relates to making the high molecular weight, monoesterified polyimide polymer. According to its broadest aspect, the method for making the high molecular weight, monoesterified polyimide polymer comprises the following steps: (a) preparing a polyimide polymer comprising carboxylic acid functional groups from a reaction solution comprising monomers and at least one solvent; and (b) treating the polyimide polymer with a diol at esterification conditions in the presence of dehydrating conditions to form a monoesterified polyimide polymer, wherein the dehydrating conditions at least partially remove water produced during step (b). Such high molecular weight, monoesterified polyimide polymers are useful in forming crosslinked polymer membranes for the separation of fluid mixtures.

The coding method includes encoding cluster of consecutive non-zero-valued coefficients, the encoding of a cluster including jointly encoding joint events that each are defined by at least two parameters: the number of zero-valued coefficients preceding the cluster, and the number of non-zero-valued coefficients in the cluster. The encoding of the cluster also includes encoding a parameter indicative of the number of amplitude-1 trailing non-zero-valued coefficients in the cluster, in one version with the parameter indicative of the number of trailing amplitude-1 coefficients part of the joint events such that the coding is according to a 3-dimensional joint variable length coding table. The method further includes encoding the amplitudes of the non-zero-valued coefficients that are not encoded by the joint encoding, e.g., encoding the amplitudes of the other than the trailing amplitude-1 coefficients.

Microneedle devices are provided for transport of therapeutic and biological molecules across tissue barriers. In a preferred embodiment, the microneedle devices permit drug delivery (or removal or sensing of body fluids) at clinically relevant rates across skin or other tissue barriers, without damage, pain, or irritation to the tissue. Methods of making these devices, which can include hollow and/or porous microneedles, are also provided. A preferred method for making a microneedle includes forming a micromold having sidewalls which define the outer surface of the microneedle, electroplating the sidewalls to form the hollow microneedle, and then removing the micromold from the microneedle. In a preferred method of use, the microneedle device is used to deliver fluid material into or across a biological barrier from one or more chambers in fluid connection with at least one of the microneedles. The device preferably further includes a means for controlling the flow of material through the microneedles. Representative examples of these means include the use of permeable membranes, fracturable impermeable membranes, valves, and pumps.

The passive devices can be integrally fabricated on a circuit board in either surface mount device (SMD) or ball grid array (BGA) form. Alternatively, the passive device can be constructed in a stand alone SMD or BGA/chip scale package (CSP) form to make it mountable on a multilayer board, ceramic carrier or silicon platform in the form of an integrated passive device. The passive device includes side shielding on two sides in the SMD form and four sides in the BGA/CSP form. The side shielding can be external or in-built.

Processes of the invention advantageously employ aromatic-selective membranes to separate ah aromatic enriched stream from gaseous and/or liquid mixtures comprising one or more aromatic hydrocarbon compounds thereby producing a stream comprising the remaining compounds which may include alkenes and/or alkanes containing 3 or more carbon atoms, and/or alicyclic hydrocarbons. Processes of the invention are particularly useful for recovery of meta-xylene and para- xylene products from liquid mixtures even containing. ethylbenzene as well as the three xylene isomers.

A wireless repeater assembly is described. The wireless repeater assembly includes a receiver for receiving wireless data communications, wherein the receiver includes a receiving antenna for receiving analog signals; a receiver filter adapted to enable frequencies of a predetermined range to pass onto a receiver amplifier; and the receiver amplifier for boosting a signal emitted from the receiver filter; a transmitter for transmitting wireless data communications, wherein the transmitter includes a transmitter amplifier for boosting a signal coming from the receiver; a transmitter filter adapted to enable frequencies of a predetermined range to pass onto the transmitting antenna; and a transmitting antenna for transmitting signals from the repeater assembly; and a hard wire connection between the receiver and the transmitter, wherein the receiver and the transmitter are in wired communication. The wireless repeater assembly can operate at approximately 60 GHz.
