摘要： In general this invention relates to an antifreeze composition that can be used in the cooling systems of internal combustion engines, for example, in heavy-duty diesel engines, light duty trucks and cars. The antifreeze composition can be added to water or other suitable liquid coolant in the cooling system, to lower the freezing point temperature of the coolant and inhibit corrosion of metallic components associated with the cooling system. The antifreeze composition is particularly well suited, although not exclusively, for use with hard water. The antifreeze composition includes an organic acid component comprising adipic acid and at least one of benzoic acid and one or more C 9 -C 12 dicarboxylic acid--or salts of these acids. The antifreeze composition also includes other anti-corrosive additive, for example, molybdate, nitrite, nitrate silicate azoles and a variety of buffer agents.

摘要： A replaceable filter cartridge for use in a fluid filter assembly includes a substantially cylindrical filter element including a pair of oppositely disposed filter element ends. A first endplate is bonded to one of the filter element ends so as to close the end and prevent fluid leakage therethrough. A second endplate is bonded to the opposite filter element end so as to close the opposite end and prevent fluid leakage therethrough. The second endplate includes an outer annular wall which is sized so as to create a noticeable distance of separation between the second endplate outer wall and the outer surface of the filter element and thereby define an annular clearance space therebetween. The outer wall of the second endplate is annular and substantially concentric with the filter element and provides a lip or free edge for the snap-on assembly of a closing lid member. By configuring the lid member with a series of snap-over fingers, it is possible to simply snap the lid onto the second endplate and thereafter use the lid for handling and manipulation of the replaceable filter cartridge.

摘要： A water drain valve (20) for use in cooperation with a fuel filter having a water separation capability includes a valve housing (23), a flow-control piston (22) disposed within the valve housing (23), a first sealing grommet (60) defining a water flow path into the valve housing (23), a second sealing grommet (60a) defining an air flow path out of said valve housing (23) and a spring-biased control lever (21) assembled to the valve housing and cooperating with the flow-control piston (22) so as to rotate the piston (22) from a drain valve normally-closed condition to a drain valve normally-open condition. The valve housing (23) is a unitary casting having a sidewall (39) defining first (41) and second (42) flow apertures, one of which (42) receives the first sealing grommet (60) and the other of which receives the second sealing grommet (60a). The flow-control piston (22) includes a first part-spherical portion (32) which includes a water drain passageway (35) therethrough leading to a drain opening (43) which is defined by the valve housing (23). The flow-control piston (22) also includes a second part-spherical portion (33) defining an air flow passageway (36) therethrough leading from the drain opening (43). In the normally-closed condition, the flow-control piston (22) is turned such that the first part-spherical portion (32) closes the flow communication between the water drain passageway (35) and the water flow path. Concurrently, the second part-spherical portion (33) closes the flow communication between the air flow passageway (36) and the air flow path. In the opened condition, there is flow communication between the water drain passageway (35) and the water flow path and between the air flow passageway (36) and the air flow path for draining water from the fuel filter and providing vent air into the fuel filter.
