摘要:
A method of preventing windup in a PID controller when using a nonlinear gain parameter is disclosed that is used in the PID controller of a process control system. The PID controller is arranged to produce within a current execution cycle a Control Variable (CV) to a device that is controlling a process responsive to an input Process Variable (PV), a setpoint (SP), and a gain parameter (K). The present invention receives the PV, the SP, and the K and generates a proportional, integral, and derivative component of the deviation of the PV from the SP. The components so generated are used to calculate an incremental output CV for the current execution cycle. A current value of gain is next calculated by subtracting the value of the gain for the current cycle from the value of the gain from the previous cycle. Testing for a linear or nonlinear gain parameter is done next and, responsive to a nonlinear gain parameter, a nonlinear gain change component is calculated and added to the incremental output CV. An output CV is generate for the current execution cycle by adding the incremental ouput CV modified by the nonlinear gain change component to the CV value of the previous execution cycle. The accumulated sum of proportional, integral, and derivative components of previous execution cycles are updated with the proportional, integral, and derivative components generated by the current execution cycle. These accumulated values will be used in calculating the nonlinear gain change component in the next cycle. However, if the testing identifies a linear gain parameter, the nonlinear gain change calculation is skipped and the output CV is generated by adding the incremental output CV to the CV value of the previous execution cycle.

This invention discloses a method for limiting a critical variable (such as, discharge pressure or suction pressure or pressure ratio) of either a compressor station or an individual compressor when these machines are subjected to large, fast disturbances. Each configuration, whether a station or an individual compressor, is equipped with two PID controllers: (1) a main controller for compressor critical variables and (2) a limiting controller that participates in modulatiag recycle valves. At the onset of sudden, large changes of mass flow at a compressor's or station's discharge, the effectiveness of the two controllers (acting independently) may be insufficient to prevent discharge pressure from reaching the shutdown set point which, in turn, disrupts the process supported by the compressors, and the longevity of the drivers is diminished. For these reasons, this disclosure relates specifically to a technique that combines the functions of the main and limiting controllers. Because of the complementary (synergistic) interaction of the controllers, an earlier and faster opening of the antisurge valves is initiated, and pressure at the discharge header is effectively limited.

The invention relates to a control signal compensation method particularly intended for an analog/digital processing system provided with a control loop, including in turn a controller (5) and a monitoring (4) circuit, characterised in that it comprises the following steps:
storing the corrections made by the controller; fast processing such corrections in advance of the transmission of the corrections throughout the control loop; generating a compensating signal (014) for the latency effects of the controller, by the use of a negative feedback loop provided at the monitoring circuit level.
The invention also concerns a compensation control system implementing the above method, and an analog/digital processing system incorporating such a compensation control system.

An adaptive control includes a digital error correction system (DECS) (51) to reduce control system error to near zero by anticipating a problem and feeding forward in time a correction to deal with the problem before it happens. The adaptive control is used in a controlled system of the kind which is cyclical in operation and which operates in response to repetitive cycle commands so that the operation of the system is substantially predictable for a significant number of cycles of operation. The adaptive control is incorporated in a refrigerator system in which two Stirling cycle refrigerators are mounted in opposition to one another. The adaptive control permits accurate control of the command waveform frequency and shape, enables the refrigerator system to be more thermodynamically efficient, and enables the two refrigerators to exactly cancel each other's vibration.

A control system includes a plant 56 having resonant modes and a controller 5 which receives plant input signals on lines 14,24 from the plant 56 and provides a controller output signal I, related to a filter output signal V, which controls the plant 6. The controller is provided with a non-linear notch filter 30 which receives a filter input signal x related to the plant input signals and provides the filter output signal V. The notch filter has at least one notch frequency near one of the resonant modes so as to attenuate one of the modes by a predetermined amount and has a phase lag a decade below the lowest notch frequency of said notch filter which is less than that of a corresponding linear notch filter, thereby allowing the control system 7 to exhibit faster time response and increased bandwidth than a system employing linear notch filters.

This invention describes a way of controlling a plant with multiple inputs and multiple outputs but allowing an operator to direct the control as if each controlled variable had a direct connection to operator controlled variables. An interference network cross fertilizes information from multiple subcontrollers amongst themselves, to allow for enhanced control based on user defined criterion.
