    摘要: An apparatus for conditioning fluid. In one embodiment of the present invention, there is an apparatus which comprises two filters and an electrically actuatable switching valve. Fluid provided to the apparatus may be routed to either filter by the switching valve. A controller positions the valve to provide fluid to a particular filter based on a measurement of pressure downstream of the filter, provided that the temperature of the fluid is above a predetermined level. Further, the invention includes proximity switches by which the controller can determine the coupling or uncoupling of a filter from the body. Various fuel heaters are provided for heating the fuel.

    摘要: A centrifugal separator (20) for removing particulate matter from a fluid includes a base (30) defining inlet (41), an outer shell (31) assembled to the base (30), a stationary centertube (34) assembled to the base (30), and a rotor assembly (20a) which is mounted onto the centertube (34) and positioned within the outer shell (31). The rotor assembly (20a) is bearingly mounted to the centertube (34) for rotation about the centertube (34). The rotor assembly (20a) includes a rotor shell (26), a cone-stack assembly (24), and a retention-medium sleeve (21) positioned between the cone-stack assembly (24) and the rotor shell (24) and the rotor shell (26) for receiving and retaining particulate matter which is centrifugally from the fluid being "processed" by the centrifugal separator (20). A water-absorbent material is included as part of the retention-medium sleeve (21), whose preferred material is a high-void medium of at lest 70 per cent. An additional retention-medium member formed into a coil-like shape is positioned between the cone-stack assembly (24) and the base (30). The base (30) includes a pair of tangential flow jet nozzles (50,51) which are used for driving the rotor assembly (20a).

    摘要: A fluid filter assembly for pressurized fluids includes a simplified construction involving the use of a molded, integral nutplate fabricated out of a glass reinforced nylon material. The molded nutplate is used in combination with an outer housing and a generally cylindrical filter cartridge which is positioned within the housing. The nutplate provides flow inlet apertures, a flow exit conduit and an inserted stem extending into the filter cartridge and being designed and arranged so as to establish a fluid-tight interface with a molded endplate disposed over the upper end of the filter cartridge. The lower end of the filter cartridge employs a molded endplate design which includes projecting feet to position the filter cartridge within the outer housing and to establish the desired axial depth. The design, including the molded nutplate, substantially reduces the number of component parts required for prior art filter assembly designs and results in fewer processing steps being required. The specific configuration of the nutplate and the manner in which it is secured to the outer housing causes all pressurized fluids to be contained beneath the nutplate. As a result, pressurized fluid cannot pass and create a downward load on the outer diameter of the nutplate.
