摘要: Disclosed is a plasma display wherein luminance, life and reliability of the PDP are improved by preventing deterioration of the phosphor layers. Also disclosed is a method for producing a phosphor used in such a plasma display. The plasma display comprises a plasma display panel wherein a plurality of discharge cells and phosphor layers (110R, 110G, 110B) of colors corresponding to the respective discharge cells are arranged and the phosphor layers (110R, 110G, 110B) emit light when excited by ultraviolet light. The green phosphor layer (110G) contains a green phosphor composed of Zn2SiO4:Mn, and the ratio of zinc (Zn) to silicon (Si) near the surface is set at the stoichiometric ratio of 2/1. The green phosphor is positively or zero charged.

摘要: During a setup interval, the wall charges of scan and sustain electrodes having performed sustain discharging in the previous sub-field are adjusted; a part of the positive charges of the scan electrode that is on the sustain electrode side is reversed to negative charges; and a part of the negative charges of the sustain electrode that is on the scan electrode side is reversed to positive charges. During an address interval, a write pulse is applied to the scan electrode, and a priming discharge between the scan electrode and a priming electrode is utilized to cause a write discharging to occur. During a sustain interval, the positive charges are stored on the whole scan electrode, and the negative charges are stored on the whole sustain electrode.

摘要: On the front substrate (1), a pair of scanning electrodes (6), a pair of sustaining electrodes (7), an auxiliary scanning electrode (20) all parallel are provided in each cell. The scanning and sustaining electrodes are alternated. On the back substrate (2), a priming electrode (14) is provided parallel to the scanning electrodes (6) in each cell. The auxiliary scanning electrode (20) in one cell is electrically connected to the scanning electrodes in the adjacent cell. The scanning electrodes in the adjacent cell are scanned before the scanning electrodes in the one cell are scanned. Priming discharge is caused between the auxiliary scanning electrode (20) and the priming electrode (14).

摘要: A plasma display unit of enhanced electric discharge characteristics wherein the adsorption of water and hydrocarbon gas onto blue phosphor surface is restricted and wherein the luminance deterioration and chromaticity change of phosphor are suppressed. Phosphor layers for use in plasma display include a blue phosphor layer constituted of a compound of the formula Ba(1-x)MgAl10O17:Eux or Ba(1-x-y)SryMgAl10O17:Eux wherein the number of Eu atoms as a constituent thereof is in the range of 0.2 to 0.8 and wherein among the Eu atoms, the concentration of bivalent Eu ions is in the range of 25 to 85% while the concentration of trivalent Eu ions is in the range of 15 to 75%.
