The facility uses availability information—which reflects recipients' availability and willingness to communicate—and system- and recipient-defined preferences to determine the best method(s) of delivery for a message and other features of message delivery. Recipients' availability and preferences may be displayed to users on an interface. Users may make decisions regarding delivery method, timing, and other details of message delivery based on the displayed availability and preference information.

A system and method determines a geographic position of a mobile device in communication with an IP-based wireless telecommunications network. A wireless connection between the mobile device and the IP-based wireless telecommunications network is established when the mobile device registers with a network controller (NC) through an access point (AP). When a geographical position is needed for the mobile device (e.g., a 911 call), messages are exchanged between the NC and the SMLC where the SMLC retrieves information from a database that is used to identify the geographic position of the mobile device. The database can store a variety of information related to mobile devices such as: last known position, IP address, MAC address, device or subscriber identifier, last CGI, etc. The geographical position is communicated back to the NC, which can then forward the position information to a switch for processing such as for 911 calls.

This document discloses technology for improving the ability to detect the location of a misplaced or lost Internet-of-Things (IoT) device. A 3D visualization of a physical environment including the misplaced loT device and one or more physical objects is captured using a visualization sensor in a handheld mobile device. An estimation of the distance between the loT device and at least the handheld mobile device or one or more physical objects is determined. Using the estimated distance between the loT device and at least the handheld mobile device or one or more physical objects, the 3D visualization is augmented with location data. In doing so, the handheld mobile device is able to display a mapping of the environment including an indication of the location of the loT device in the 3D visualization, allowing a user to find the misplaced or lost loT device.
