This invention discloses a method for adding tobacco dust in production process of the papermaking tobacco sheet and its equipment. The tobacco dust is added in 5-30% weight at four process points such as the pipeline from the slurry stabilization box to the slurry flow box, the long-net of the papermaking machine, the position from the vacuum couch to the first press, and the coating position on the papermaking machine. This invention adopts a method for adding the tobacco dust in production process of papermaking tobacco sheet, which has well improved its physical performances including the filling capacity of the papermaking tobacco sheet and solved smoking problems of the papermaking tobacco sheet, such as worse inherent quality; heavy stemy note, insipid tobacco aroma and etc. In addition, this method has also offered a good way to well utilize tobacco dust resource in sizes of 2 mm-100 mesh, which is abnegated in cigarette production, to save resource and to reduce the cigarette cost.

The invention also relates to a device for producing comminuted tobacco material with a pressure chamber, which has a tobacco material inlet on the low-pressure side, a tobacco material outlet on the pressure side, and a conveying device for conveying the tobacco material from the inlet to the outlet. The tobacco material outlet has a gap for the passage of the tobacco material that is not stressed, and this gap has gap walls that can move relative to one another. The invention additionally relates to a smoking article that has a defibrated tobacco material product comminuted in the aforementioned manner, and relates to the use of a stuffing screw extruder with a shearing gap outlet for defibrating tobacco material.

A method of manufacturing a regenerated tobacco material includes extracting a natural tobacco material with an aqueous extracting solvent to obtain an extract solution containing components of the natural tobacco material and an extraction residue, subjecting the extract solution to an adsorption separation operation using an adsorbent to reduce an amount of nitrosamines, preparing a regenerated tobacco web using the extraction residue, and adding at least a part of the extract solution in which the amount of nitrosamines is reduced, to the regenerated tobacco web. The adsorbent is a strongly hydrophobic adsorbent. The adsorption separation operation is carried out within 60 minutes using the strongly hydrophobic adsorbent in an amount corresponding to 10 to 110% of a weight of soluble components of the extract solution.

Methods of reducing the content of and preventing formation of carcinogenic nitrosamines in harvested leafy plants such as tobacco and marijuana are disclosed. The methods are directed to subjecting the plant to microwave and/or higher frequency radiation, at appropriate times in the cure cycle. With tobacco, products suitable for human consumption, such as cigarettes, cigars, etc., can be made in accordance with the present invention, having contents of tobacco-specific nitrosamines on a par with fresh-cut, green tocacco. In preferred embodiments, the resultant tobacco products are dried, golden-yellow leaves having almost negligible amounts of the known carcinogens NNN and NNK, in comparison to conventionally cured tobacco.

The invention relates to a method for improving the loading capacity of tobacco, such as cut tobacco leaves or tobacco ribs and tobacco additives. According to the inventive method, the tobacco material containing between 10 and 30 % of initial humidity is treated with a treatment gas consisting of nitrogen and/or argon, at pressures of between 400 and 1,000 bar; the tobacco is then continuously decompressed; and the discharged tobacco material is then thermally post-treated. The apparent density of the packed tobacco in the autoclaves is higher than 0.2 kg/dm3.
