Abstract:
An oral pouched snuff product (1) and a method for its production. The oral pouched snuff product (1) comprises a filling material (3) and a saliva-permeable pouch enclosing the filling material, the saliva-permeable pouch comprising at least one elongated seal (13a) and the saliva-permeable pouch comprising a mesh material (5) being elastic in at least one direction and comprising fibres of thermoplastic polyamide, wherein the at least one elongated seal has a seal strength of at least 0.10 N/mm as measured in dry state as well as in wet state. The at least one elongated seal (13a) may be an ultrasonically provided weld.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides the identification of tobacco Nic1 locus. Also provided are tobacco plants with altered total alkaloid and nicotine levels and commercially acceptable leaf grade, their development via breeding or transgenic approaches, and production of tobacco products from these tobacco plants. Also provided are compositions and methods for producing tobacco plants having novel Nic1 mutations or alleles to reduce nicotine levels. Further provided are sequence polymorphisms and molecular markers for breeding tobacco with reduced nicotine or nicotine free while maintaining tobacco leaf grade and tobacco product quality.
Abstract:
A smokeless tobacco product or medicinal nicotine product includes nicotine and camphor dissolved in a non-flavored oily carrier. Preferably, the camphor is present in a concentration ranging from about 600 ppm to about 1300 ppm. Also disclosed are methods of making such products.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a tobacco substitute-fluid mixture for use in a water pipe, comprising a fluid (1) that contains water and glycerin and/or 1,2-propanediol, and comprising at least one thickener (2) that is dispersed in the fluid (1). The invention also relates to the use of a tobacco substitute-fluid mixture of said type in a water pipe and a method for producing a tobacco substitute-fluid mixture wherein a fluid (1) is mixed with a thickener (2) so as to form a mixture along with the thickener (2).
Abstract:
An apparatus for and a method of manufacturing a crimped web for an aerosol-generating article is provided, including feeding a substantially continuous web to a set of crimping rollers including a first roller and a second roller, each of which is corrugated across at least a portion of a width thereof; and crimping the web by feeding the web between the rollers in a longitudinal direction of the web such that corrugations of the rollers apply a plurality of longitudinally extending and substantially parallel crimp corrugations to the web, wherein pitch values of the corrugations of one or both of the rollers vary across the width thereof such that pitch values of the crimp corrugations vary across a width of the crimped web.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a polynucleotide having a function of regulating a content of a plant metabolite, a polypeptide having a function of regulating a content of a plant metabolite, a vector containing the polynucleotide or a part of the polynucleotide, and a transformed plant produced by using the vector, and a method for producing the transformed plant, and according to the above polynucleotide, polypeptide, vector, transformed plant and method, a novel gene regulating a content of a plant metabolite and use of the novel gene.
Abstract:
The invention features tobacco compositions and methods of their use and manufacture. Compositions of the invention may be based on a variety of technologies. Technologies include films, tabs, shaped parts, gels, consumable units, insoluble matrices, and hollow shapes. In addition to tobacco, compositions may also contain flavors, colors, and other additives as described herein. Compositions may also be orally disintegrable. Exemplary compositions and methods of their manufacture are described herein.
Abstract:
Methods of preparing highly purified steviol glycosides, particularly rebaudiosides A, D and M are described. The methods include utilizing recombinant microorganisms for converting various staring compositions to target steviol glycosides. In addition, novel steviol glycosides reb D2 and reb M2 are disclosed, as are methods of preparing the same. The highly purified rebaudiosides are useful as non-caloric sweetener in edible and chewable compositions such as any beverages, confectioneries, bakery products, cookies, and chewing gums.
