摘要: The present invention is directed to a linear block copolymer, useful as a dispersant for pigment, wherein the block copolymer comprises acetoacetyl amine functional groups which serve as pigment anchoring groups. The linear block copolymer of this invention can be an AB, ABC, or ABA block copolymer. The present invention can be useful in dispersing and stabilizing a wide range of pigments in solvent based systems, and are particularly useful in providing pigment dispersions that are used in coating compositions for automobiles and trucks, where they provide improved efficiency of pigment use, lower paint viscosity, and reduced emission of volatile organic solvent.

摘要: This invention provides an apparatus and process for forming a printing form from a photosensitive element having an exterior surface and a composition layer capable of being partially liquefied. The apparatus includes a displaceable heater for heating the composition layer, means for removing at least a portion of the composition layer from the element, and means for displacing the displaceable heater to a predetermined distance from the exterior surface. Positioning the displaceable heater at the predetermined distance assures reproducible removal of the liquefied composition from the various types of photosensitive elements that can be thermally treated in the apparatus, resulting in the printing forms having improved relief surface uniformity.

摘要: A fast hardening clear coating composition for repairing a clear coat/color coat finish or a pigmented mono-coat of a vehicle comprising a film forming binder and an organic liquid carrier, where the binder contains a hydroxyl polymer component comprising (A) hydroxyl-containing acrylic polymer, (B) at least one hydroxyl-terminated component selected from the group consisting of (1) an organic diol having the formula where R1 and R2 are individually selected from the group of hydrogen and an alkyl group having 1, 3-5 carbon atoms and (2) a hydroxyl terminated reaction product of trimethylol propane and a lactone; (C) an organic polyisocyanate crosslinking component, at least portion of which comprises a trimer of isophorone diisocyanate or hexamethylene diisocyanate and the composition further contains, a curing catalyst, of a dialkyl tin aliphatic carboxylate, a tertiary aliphatic mono or diamine, an aliphatic carboxylic acid, and optionally, a zinc or calcium organic acid salt in an effective amount such that the coating composition on curing at ambient temperatures is in a water spot free and sufficiently hard state for sanding or buffing within about 2 hours after application or on cool down when baked under normal conditions.

摘要: A process for the production of a dark-color multi-layer coating, comprising the successive steps: (1) applying an NIR-opaque coating layer A′ from a pigmented, solvent- or waterborne coating composition A to a substrate, (2) applying a coating layer B′ from a pigmented coating composition B onto the substrate provided with coating layer A′, wherein the pigment content of coating composition A consists 90 to 100 wt. % of at least one 10 to 80 nm thick aluminum flake pigment and 0 to 10 wt. % of at least one further pigment, which is selected in such a way that NIR-opaque coating layer A′ exhibits low NIR absorption, wherein the pigment content of coating composition B consists 50 to 100 wt. % of at least one black pigment with low NIR absorption and 0 to 50 wt. % of at least one further pigment, which is selected in such a way that coating layer B′ exhibits low NIR absorption and that the dark-color multi-layer coating exhibits a brightness L* (according to CIEL*a*b*, DIN 6174), measured at an illumination angle of 45 degrees to the perpendicular and an observation angle of 45 degrees to the specular, of at most 10 units, wherein the sum of the respective wt. % equals 100 wt. %, and wherein the coating layers A′ and B′ are cured.
