Abstract: Disclosed are a foaming agent composition for polyurethane including glycerol carbonate as a chemical foaming agent and a physical foaming agent or a chemical foaming agent in a predetermined ratio (physicochemical foaming agent), and polyurethane foam prepared using the same. The polyurethane foam has very low global warming potential and ozone depletion potential and simultaneously improved properties such as thermal conductivity, water absorption, flexural strength, and compressive strength that meet the standard for thermal insulation materials made of rigid urethane foam, and is effective at preventing internal shrinkage.

Abstract: Disclosed are devices for determining an analyte concentration (e.g., glucose). The devices comprise a sensor configured to generate a signal associated with a concentration of an analyte and a sensing membrane located over the sensor. The sensing membrane comprises a biointerface layer which interfaces with a biological fluid containing the analyte to be measured. The biointerface layer comprises a biointerface polymer, wherein the biointerface polymer comprises polyurethane and/or polyurea segments and one or more zwitterionic repeating units. The biointerface layer increases sensor longevity and decrease sensor inaccuracy by inhibiting accumulation of cells, proteins, and other biological species on the outermost layers of the sensor.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process comprising reacting polyisocyanate with active hydrogen-containing compound in the presence of Z-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene at a temperature of at least 135° F. (57.2° C.) or a temperature of 135° F. (57.2° C.) to 150° F. (65.6° C.) to obtain as a result thereof, foamed reaction product, wherein the thermal conductivity of the foamed reaction product exhibits no appreciable change at any of the foaming temperatures within this range.

The composition for polyurethane foam can further increase tensile strength and restorability of a polyurethane foam while ensuring low air permeability and excellent toner sealing property of the polyurethane foam.

The invention also relates to polyurethane rigid foam materials produced therefrom and to the use thereof for insulation and cooling applications.
