When an actual crank angle advancing time is shorter than the reference crank angle advancing time, the ignition timing is retarded by an amount corresponding to a difference of the actual crank angle advancing time from the reference crank angle advancing time. When the actual crank angle advancing time is longer than the reference crank angle advancing time, the ignition timing is advanced by an amount corresponding to the difference.

The airbag, which is provided inside the hood, passes through the opening and is deployed toward the outside of a vehicle body, due to the pressure of gas supplied from the inflator. Accordingly, the reference position for deployment of the airbag can be made closer to the rear of the vehicle in the vehicle fore-and-aft direction. Thus, the airbag can be deployed to a large extent in the area closer to the rear of the vehicle in the vehicle fore-and-aft direction.

According to the invention, the LUDV pressure compensator (24) may be pressure equalised by means of a nozzle (98), whereby a connection between the LS line and a section of the pressure medium flow path downstream of the pump and upstream of an outlet (74) is generated. Said nozzle is preferably integrated in the pressure compensator piston.
