Abstract:
The invention relates to expandable or expanded thermoplastic polymer particles provided with a coating containing hydrophobin, especially proteins of general structural formula (I): Xn-C1-X1-50-C2-X0-5-C3-X1-100-C4-X1-100-C5-X1-50-C6-X0-5-C7-X1-50-C8-Xm wherein X represents each of the 20 naturally occurring amino acids, n and m represent numbers between 0 and 500, and C represents cysteine. The invention also relates to the use of said particles as an antistatic agent.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the production of flame-proof, expandable styrene polymers (EPS) or flameproof styrene polymer extrusion foams (XPS). According to the invention, an organic bromine compound having a bromine content of at least 70 wt. % and a liquid peroxide, hydroperoxide or a peroxide solution as a flameproof agent is used as a flame-proof synergist.
Abstract:
A process for preparing expandable styrene polymers with narrow bead size distribution, which can be processed to foams with homogeneous cell structure and low thermal conductivity, by polymerizing the monomers in aqueous suspension in the presence of a volatile blowing agent and from 0.1 to 30 ppm, based on the organic phase, of a hydroxyalkylamine.

The invention relates to expandable or expanded thermoplastic polymer particles provided with a coating containing hydrophobin, especially proteins of general structural formula (I): X n -C 1 -X 1-50 -C 2 -X 0-5 -C 3 -X 1-100 -C 4 -X 1-100 -C 5 -X 1-50 -C 6 -X 0-5 -C 7 -X 1-50 -C 8 -X m wherein X represents each of the 20 naturally occurring amino acids, n and m represent numbers between 0 and 500, and C represents cysteine. The invention also relates to the use of said particles as an antistatic agent.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing expandable styrene polymers containing particulate additives, said method comprising the following steps: a) producing prepolymer pellets by means of a first suspension polymerization of an aqueous suspension containing styrene monomers and particulate additives; b) separating the prepolymer pellets; c) optionally dividing the prepolymer pellets into fractions of different particle size and selecting one or more fractions for subsequent steps; d) producing an aqueous suspension of the prepolymer pellets and performing at least one second suspension polymerization in the presence of blowing agent and while metering additional monomers.
