    摘要: The method of pre-emphasizing a plurality of optical signals in wavelength-division multiplexing optical signals inputted to an optical transmission line having a plurality of stations connected in-between which are provided with an optical amplifier, comprising the steps of:
    obtaining a predetermined physical quantity in a plurality of stations;
    respectively obtaining a partial optical signal-to-noise ratio of each of a plurality of optical signals in said plurality of stations according to said predetermined physical quantity;
    obtaining a sum of said partial optical signal-to-noise ratios of all of said optical signals amplified in each of said stations and an average value of said ratios;
    respectively obtaining a difference value of said each optical signal in said plurality of stations, of which the value is between said average value and said partial optical signal-noise ratio;
    obtaining a sum of said difference values in said stations wherein said optical signals are amplified, and
    regulating optical levels of said plurality of optical signals so that sums of said obtained difference values become all zero.

    摘要: An optical amplifier of the present invention comprises: an optical amplifying circuit which amplifies a signal light; an optical reflection medium which is disposed on an optical fiber connected to the optical amplifying circuit and is capable of reflecting a noise light which exists in a predetermined wavelength range outside a signal band, among noise lights generated in said optical amplifying circuit, to radiate the reflected noise light to the outside of a core of the optical fiber; a light receiver which receives the noise light reflected to be radiated to the outside of the core of the optical fiber by the optical reflection medium, to detect the power of the noise light; and a computation circuit which computes the total power of the noise lights generated in the optical amplifying circuit based on the detection result of the light receiver. Thus, it is possible to provide at a low cost an optical amplifier provided with a monitoring function capable of detecting high accurately, with a simple optical circuit configuration, the noise light power and the like generated when the signal light is amplified.

    摘要: It is an object of the present invention to provide a variable wavelength light source apparatus capable of changing continuously wavelengths of a plurality of oscillation light over a wideband and an optical amplifier using the same. In order to achieve the above object, the variable wavelength light source apparatus comprises: a wavelength selection device in which a propagation direction of emitted light is changed according to a wavelength of incident light; a plurality of light sources emitting the light that has reciprocated in a gain medium with a high reflecting mirror on an end face thereof and has been amplified, to a predetermined position of the wavelength selection device at angles different from each other; an optical resonance reflection section reflecting a part of the light incident vertically out of the emitted light from the wavelength selection device to form an optical resonator configuration between the optical resonance reflection section and each of the high reflecting mirrors of the light sources to generate oscillation light; an optical coupler section coupling the oscillation light transmitted through the optical resonance reflection section in an output light path; and a drive section changing an arrangement angle of the wavelength selection device with respect to the optical resonance reflection section according to desired wavelength setting.

    摘要: A device comprising an optical amplifier including an optical amplifying medium, and first and second optical filters operatively connected to the optical amplifier to suppress the wavelength dependence of gain. The medium has an input end and an output end for an optical signal. The medium is pumped so that it provides a gain band. The gain band includes a first band giving a relatively high gain and noise figure to the optical signal and a second band giving a relatively low gain and noise figure to the optical signal. The first optical filter is connected to the input end of the medium and has characteristics such that the first optical filter suppresses the wavelength dependence of gain in the second band. The second optical filter is connected to the output end of the medium and has characteristics such that the second optical filter suppresses the wavelength dependence of gain in the first band. This configuration allows suitable suppression of the wavelength dependence of gain in each optical filter, thereby providing a low noise figure and high optical output power.
