摘要： A method for reserving resources for a wireless packet-based session, the method comprising a first user sending a first resource reservation protocol message to a second user via a network comprising a plurality of routers for reserving resources for a packet-based session along a path to the second user; and the first user receiving a second resource reservation protocol message from the second user in response to the first resource reservation protocol message, wherein resources for communication in both directions to and from the second user are reserved by routers along the path as the second resource reservation protocol message traverses the network along the path.

摘要： A method and system for supporting an evolved universal mobile telecommunication systems (UMTS) terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) are disclosed. The system includes a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), a UTRAN and an E-UTRAN. The UTRAN sends to the WTRU a list of available radio access technologies in a coverage area of the UTRAN. The list includes information related to the E-UTRAN. The WTRU receives the list and may initiate a handoff based on the list. The WTRU then sends its multi-mode/multi- RAT capability information including the E-UTRAN capability to the UTRAN. The UTRAN then sends a measurement capability message to the WTRU. The measurement capability message includes parameters necessary for performing measurements on an E-UTRAN channel. The WTRU performs measurements based on the measurement capability message and reports measurement results to the UTRAN. The UTRAN may initiate a handoff to the E-UTRAN based on the measurement results.

摘要： A method and system for interworking between cellular networks (120) and wireless local area networks (WLANs) (110) are disclosed. At least one cellular network (120), at least one WLAN (110) and an EP network (140) are deployed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) (102) first establishes a connection to a WLAN (110) and a tunnel between an access point (AP) (132a, 132b) and a packet data gateway (PDG) (129) is established. The PDG (129) further establishes a tunnel to an IP network (140). The WTRU (102) then invokes a service which is delivered through the WLAN (110). As signal quality from the AP (132a, 132b) degrades below a predetermined threshold, a handover from the WLAN (110) to the cellular network (120) is performed.

摘要： A wireless communication system for supporting multimedia services (MMS) provided to a user of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) which communicates with the wireless communication system. The wireless communication system includes a third generation partnership program (3GPP) universal mobile telecommunications system (UMTS), a wireless local area network (WLAN) and an MMS server. The MMS server stores at least one MMS message for the WTRU in a memory until the WTRU retrieves the message. The 3GPP UMTS includes an internet protocol short message gateway (IP-SM-GW) having a short message service (SMS) proxy. The WTRU is registered with the SMS proxy to establish SMS connectivity, and is also registered with the MMS server to establish MMS connectivity. The WTRU is notified when the MMS server receives an MMS message for the WTRU. The WTRU then retrieves the MMS message from the memory of the MMS server.

The establishment of communication with the second station includes determining that the second station is different from the first station; associating with the second station; forwarding the identity of the first station to the second station; and using the identity of the first station to continue the original session through the second station. The handoff is equally successful when the stations involved in the handoff are both in the same network or wherein the stations are in different networks.

摘要： Method and apparatus for delivering voice/data services within a piconet operating over a limited range or over a WLAN (1803) communicating with 3GPP devices by reformatting data into IP format before delivering to the WLAN (1803). The service is Short Message Service (SMS) (102). Upon receipt of the SMS message, relevant routing information is retrieved. A PDGW (1805) address for the SMS message is identified and sent to the PDGW address which identifies the WLAN use equipment (UE) (1801) for receiving the SMS and reformats the SMS message into IP format for delivery to the UE. A protocol architecture is provided for SMS delivery over WLANs, in particular, for UMTS/CDMA based SMS over WLAN (1803) through two alternative mechanisms: SMS tunneling and SMS proxy, for protocols for the delivery of SMS across the WLAN (1803).
