The present invention relates to a polyester sewing thread usable for a fabric for an airbag and a cushion for an airbag. In particular, the present invention relates to a polyester sewing thread for an airbag obtained by doubling and twisting a specific polyester yarn including a plurality of polyester filaments, and bonding the polyester yarn in the manner of in-bonding, out-bonding, or in-and-out bonding, and a preparation method thereof. According to the present invention, the polyester fiber having high strength, middle elongation, and dry heat shrinkage may be used to implement excellent physical properties similar to those of a sewing thread using existing polyamide fiber (Nylon 66), and to implement sufficient performance as a sewing thread for an airbag when conducting a static test after the cushion for an airbag is actually manufactured. Therefore, the present invention provides a polyester sewing thread for an airbag having excellent performance and high competitive price to be used as a substitute for existing polyamide (Nylon 66) sewing thread for an airbag.

The present invention relates to a coated fabric for an airbag. Particularly, the present invention provides a coated fabric for an airbag on a surface of which a coating layer including liquid silicone rubber having elongation of 1000% or more, as measured according to Korean Industrial Standards (KS) M 6518, is included, and a method of manufacturing the same. According to the present invention, the elongation of liquid silicone rubber is excellent so that damage to the fabric for an airbag is minimized under a severe condition of high temperature and high pressure is minimized, and thus the airbag may have excellent inflation and deployment performance, and simultaneously provides excellent storage, dimensional stability, and airtightness effect, thereby safely protect passengers even upon vehicle collision and rollover.

The present invention relates to a fabric for an airbag, and a production method thereof. More particularly, the present invention relates to a polyester fabric which includes a high-strength, high-elongation and low-modulus polyester yarn to show excellent toughness and energy absorbing performance after high-humidity heat treatment for a long period of time, a production method thereof, and an airbag for an automobile including the same. The polyester fabric includes a polyester yarn having a fineness of 300 to 700 denier to optimize and maintain the tear strength and seam strength indices in the warp and weft directions within the predetermined range under high temperature and high humidity for a long time, thereby minimizing the impact applied to a passenger and protecting the passenger with safety.

Particularly, the present invention relates to a polyester fiber that has elongation of 1.65% to 2.5% when tensile strength of 1.0 g/ d is applied after heat treatment at 185 °C for 2 minutes, and additionally elongates in the range of elongation from 0.5% to 5% at the range of tensile strength from 8.0 g/d to the maximum strength. The present invention also relates to a method for preparing the same, and fabric for an airbag prepared therefrom. The polyester fiber of the present invention simultaneously has low initial Young's modulus and excellent mechanical properties, and thus, it may provide excellent packing, dimensional stability, and excellent air cut-off effect, and simultaneously, minimize impact applied to a passenger thus safely protecting a passenger.

The present invention provides a polyester yarn, wherein a room-temperature strength-elongation index (X 0 ) indicating a ratio (T°/S°) of tensile strength (T°) to tensile elongation (S 0 ) of the polyester yarn, measured at room temperature, and a primary high-humidity strength-elongation index (X 1 ) indicating a ratio (T 1 /S 1 ) of tensile strength (T 1 ) to tensile elongation (S 1 ) of the polyester yarn, measured after heat-treating the polyester yarn under conditions of a temperature of 85°C and a relative humidity (RH) of 95±5% for 168 hours, are optimized in a predetermined range. The polyester yarn is advantageous in that, since it has a low initial Young's modulus and exhibits excellent mechanical under severe conditions of high temperature and high humidity, when it is used for a fabric for an airbag, the fabric can exhibit excellent storability, shape stability and air blocking effects, and can minimize the impact applied to an occupant, thereby protecting the occupant safely.
