    摘要: A control system for an internal combustion engine having a variable valve operating mechanism (1) capable of varying at least one of a valve lift and an operation angle of an engine valve (11) continuously is provided. The control system comprises a detecting device (19) that detects an operating condition of the variable valve operating mechanism (1) and an operating condition of the engine and produces a signal representative thereof, and a controller (18) that controls the operating condition of the variable valve operating mechanism (1) in response to the signal from the detecting device. The controller (18) is programmed to determine whether an operation responsiveness of the variable valve operating mechanism (1) is lowered based on the signal from the detecting device and vary operational characteristics of the variable valve operating mechanism (1) when the operation responsiveness of the variable valve operating mechanism (1) is lowered. A control method is also provided.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine comprises a variable valve control device that varies a lift degree of an intake valve, an air intake passage led to an intake port of the engine that is incorporated with the intake valve and a fuel injection valve arranged to inject fuel into the intake port. The fuel injection valve has a first injection mode wherein each fuel injection shot is entirely carried out during opening period of the intake valve and a second-injection mode wherein each fuel injection shot entirely finishes prior to opening action of the intake valve. A control unit is further employed by the engine, which allows the fuel injection valve to select one of the first and second injection modes in accordance with the lift degree of intake valve effected by the variable valve control device.

    摘要: In an engine employing a variable lift and working angle control mechanism enabling both a valve lift and a working angle of an intake valve to be continuously simultaneously varied depending on engine operating conditions, the control mechanism includes at least a rocker arm and a control shaft (12) formed integral with an eccentric cam. The valve lift characteristic of the control mechanism varies by changing an angular position of the control shaft. A control-shaft position sensor (14) has a directivity for the sensor output error occurring owing to a change in relative position between the control shaft center and the position sensor. The error becomes a minimum value in a specified direction of relative position change. The specified direction of relative position change is set to be substantially identical to a direction of a line of action of load acting on the center of the control shaft (12) during idling.
