The increased temperature causes a regeneration event at the particulate filter, which further increases the temperature of the exhaust gases. A heat exchanger (36) is located downstream of the particulate filter (34) for capturing heat from the exhaust gases. The heat exchanger (36) has an inlet conduit and an outlet conduit for circulating the cooling fluid from the heat exchanger to the engine cooling system.

In the second mode of operation the chassis air suspension system is maintain a stationary in a stable, level position to serve as a base for a mobile aerial lift unit installed on the vehicle. Operation of the suspension system in its stabilization and leveling mode is triggered by activation of a vehicle power take-off unit ('PTO') used to position the aerial lift unit.

A vehicle having a cowl tray and a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is provided with one or more coolant-to-air heat exchangers (119) near the intake opening (114) of the HVAC system or attached to the cowl tray (109), in order to prevent an accumulation of snow and ice from blocking the flow of intake air into the HVAC system and interfering with the windshield wiper system. The accumulation of snow and ice in the HVAC intake is a problem commonly experienced by vehicles having the HVAC intake located near the base of the vehicle windshield, due to turbulent precipitation.

One stream is produced in a reactor/diesel engine operating an efficient stoichiometric ratio. The second stream is produced in a second reactor/diesel engine burning fuel at a low air/fuel ratio to produce an exhaust gas stream carrying a substantial load of unburned hydrocarbons, hydrogen and carbon monoxide. The two streams together carry sufficient thermal energy to ignite the unburned hydrocarbons, hydrogen and carbon monoxide using oxygen from the first exhaust gas stream as oxidizer.
