The invention relates to a light distribution control method and a light distribution control device in which plural illumination regions A1-A8 are arranged in the left-right direction and illuminated by a headlamp in an ADB light distribution pattern PADB, and vehicle positions LP and RP of a vehicle CAR ahead are detected and selected ones of the plural illumination regions A1-A8 are reduced in light quantity according to the detected vehicle positions. In this method and device, corrected vehicle positions aLP and aRP are set that are obtained by adding margins Lm and Rm to the detected vehicle positions LP and RP in the left and right directions, respectively, and compared with the plural illumination regions A1-A8. Illumination regions where the vehicle CAR ahead exists are reduced in light quantity.

A vehicle headlight device capable of outputting various light distribution patterns with low power consumption is provided. The vehicle headlight device (1) includes: an array light source (5) configured to have a plurality of light-emitting elements arranged therein; a condensing lens (7) which condenses light output from the array light source (5); a light source control unit (13) which individually changes light emission volumes of the plurality of light-emitting elements; a digital mirror (8) which reflects, with a plurality of mirror elements, light entering from the condensing lens (7); a projector lens (9) which projects, in a irradiation region (S), a light distribution pattern of the light reflected on the digital mirror (8); and a control device (3) which controls the light emission volumes of the plurality of light-emitting elements and inclined forms of the mirror elements to change illuminance distribution of the light distribution pattern.

An automotive headlamp apparatus(200) comprises: a lamp unit(10,10a,10b,10c,10d,10e) configured to be capable of forming an additional light distribution pattern(Hi) that includes an upper area above the cut-off line of a light distribution pattern for low beam(Lo) and that is divided into a plurality of individual patterns(Hia-Hie); and a controller (228,228L,228R)configured to control formation of each of the individual patterns (Hia-Hie) in accordance with presence of a forward vehicle(400). The controller(228,228L,228R) reduces the illuminance of an individual pattern(Hie) overlapping an area where a forward vehicle (400) is present and increases the illuminance of at least one of other individual patterns(Hia-Hid).

There is provided a light distribution control device (100) for controlling a light distribution pattern which is formed by light emitted from a vehicle headlamp (RHL, LHL) of a vehicle. The device includes: a vehicle detector (101) configured to detect a front vehicle existing in front of the vehicle; a light distribution controller (103) configured to determine the light distribution pattern based on a position of the detected front vehicle so as to prevent the front vehicle from being illuminated with glare light; a swiveling controller (104) configured to control swiveling of the vehicle headlamp; a road determining section (102) configured to determine a road shape of a road in front of the vehicle so as to generate road information; and a responsivity controller (105) configured to set a swiveling control speed of the swiveling controller to a certain speed, based on the road information.

A control system (40) for controlling at least one exterior vehicle light (22) of a controlled motor vehicle comprises a control unit (44) in communication with the at least one exterior vehicle light. The control unit is operable for receiving a vehicular input that includes at least one of a vehicle speed, a vehicle turn rate, a vehicle wheel angle, a vehicle compass direction, a vehicle pitch, a vehicle location, a weather condition and an ambient light level; determining a desired beam pattern based upon the vehicular input; receiving an image of a forward field of view of the motor vehicle from an image sensor; analyzing the received image; and modifying the desired beam pattern based upon the analyzed image, wherein more than two distinct beam patterns can be provided.
