Provided are a resin blend for a melting process, a pellet and a method of preparing a resin article using the same. The resin blend may include a first resin, and a second resin having a difference in melt viscosity from the first resin of 0.1 to 3000 pa*s at a shear rate of 100 to 1000 s -1 and a processing temperature of the resin blend. The resin blend can improve mechanical and surface characteristics of a resin article. Further, since coating or plating is not required for manufacturing a resin article, a manufacturing time and/or cost can be reduced, and productivity can be increased.

Granules/pastilles of unadulterated brominated anionic styrenic polymer are prepared and provided. They are made by forming a downward plug flow from an orifice in a manifold or nozzle in proximity to a cooled traveling planar member. Such member is impervious to cooling liquid. There is a gap between the lower end of the orifice and the planar member. A portion of a plug of the molten polymer either (i) bridges such gap or (ii) freely drops from the orifice and falls upon the planar member, in either case forming an individual granule/pastille on the planar member and solidifies thereon. The traveling member is cooled by a mist or spray of cooling liquid applied to the underside of the planar member. The granules/pastilles have superior properties.

The invention relates to a continuous method for production of polyamide granules, comprising a hydrolytic polymerisation of a mixture of at least one lactam and water to give a low-viscosity polyamide melt at a pressure of at least 5 bar and granulation of the low-viscosity polyamide melt by direct droplet formation with maintenance of a pressure which corresponds to at least the vapour pressure of the water retained in the polyamide melt. The low-viscosity granules thus obtained can be condensed in a single-stage subsequent step by treatment with super-heated steam to give a higher viscosity and unreacted monomers and cyclic oligomers extracted and then dried. The invention is characterised by gentle conditions with reduced residence time and temperatures.

Provided is an aerosol method, and accompanying apparatus, for preparing powdered products of a variety of materials involving the use of an ultrasonic aerosol generator (106) including a plurality of ultrasonic transducers (120) underlying and ultrasonically energizing a reservoir of liquid feed (102) which forms droplets of the aerosol. Carrier gas (104) is delivered to different portions of the reservoir by a plurality of gas delivery ports (136) delivering gas from a gas delivery system. The aerosol is pyrolyzed to form particles, which are then cooled and collected. The invention also provides powders made by the method and devices made using the powders.

A method and a mould for manufacturing pellets of hot-melt ink are disclosed. In particular use is made of a multiple mould comprising at least three dies detachably attached one to another which define mould cavities and corresponding filling holes. In the moulding process, the cavities are overfilled such that after solidification ink protrudes in the filling openings formed in a single die. Prior to removal of the pellets from the mould cavities, the die containing the protrusions is separated from the other dies. Hence the ink pellets formed are substantially free of holes and/or protrusions hampering the free flow of such pellets when introduced in a dosing system.
