The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of polyolefin fibers having mean fiber diameters of less than 5000 nm, comprising the steps of: a) preparing a polyolefin solution in a solvent, b) placing said polyolefin solution in a fiber producing device comprising a body configured to receive said polyolefin solution, said body comprising one or more openings, and c) rotating the fiber producing device, wherein rotation of the fiber producing device causes the polyolefin solution to be passed through said one or more openings to produce polyolefin fibers having mean fiber diameters of less than 5000 nm, wherein said polyolefin is selected from the group comprising polyethylene polymers and copolymers having a weight average molecular weight Mw of at least 40 000 daltons, and polypropylene polymers and copolymers, having a weight average molecular weight Mw of at least 120 000 daltons; wherein said fiber producing device is rotated at a speed of at least 10 000 revolutions per minutes (RPM). The invention also relates to said polyolefin fibers, and to articles comprising said fibers.

The present invention relates to a process for preparing a shaped composite article comprising a polymer composition and carbon particles being carbon nanotubes or graphene, said polymer composition comprising a mixture of a first polymer and a second polymer, and the composite article comprises from 0.01 to 4% by weight of carbon particles based on the total weight of the composite article as determined according to ISO 11358, characterized in that said process comprises the steps of providing a masterbatch comprising the first polymer and at least 5% of carbon particles by weight of the masterbatch as determined according to ISO 11358, providing the second polymer, and blending and shaping, in the same step, the masterbatch and the second polymer in a single extrusion or injection moulding device to form said shaped composite article.

A bamboo fibers reinforced polypropylene composition may include at least 50 wt % of a heterophasic propylene copolymer; from 2 to 40 wt % of bamboo fibers; and from 0.1 to 10 wt % of a coupling agent. The composition may show a melt flow index that is at least 5 g/10 min at 190° C. under a load of 2.16 kg according to ISO 1133, condition L; a density that is in the range of 0.900 and 1.010 g/cm3 according to ISO 1183; and a flexural modulus is in the range of 1100 MPa and 4000 MPa according to ISO 178. The composition may be prepared by mixing and kneading, and may be used to form articles.

A method can include consecutively batch processing at least two different polyethylene grades in pellet form in a pellet handling unit. A ratio of a melt flow index (MI) of a first polyethylene in pellet form (MIf) to a MI of a later processed polyethylene in pellet form (MIl) can be smaller than 0.30. The method can include processing an intermediate polyethylene grade in pellet form. An amount of intermediate polyethylene grade processed can be at most 1/100th of a handling capacity of the pellet handling unit. The intermediate polyethylene grade can have the same MI as the later processed polyethylene in pellet form.
