A method for controlling energy systems such as multiple boiler systems to meet an energy need includes a controller configured as a sequencer with the remaining controllers act as individual boiler controllers which periodically send status messages to the sequencer. The energy need is determined by measurements at the sequencer which maintains runtimes of the boilers. The sequencer periodically sends control commands to the boiler controllers to add or delete boilers. The control commands give consideration to the run times of the boilers.

Bei einem Verfahren zum Betrieb eines Gasgebläsebrenners wird von einer Regelschaltung ein von einer Ionisationselektrode abgeleitetes Ionisationssignal(Ui) erfaßt und das Gas-Luftverhältnis auf einen Lambda-Sollwert >1 geregelt, dem ein Sollwert(Uis) des Ionisationssignals entspricht. A system for monitoring a combustion apparatus comprises a monitor (5), a memory (6), and a display (7). The monitor (5) determines how many times combustion has taken place in a combustion apparatus. Also the monitor determines a cumulative total period of time for which combustion has occurred in the combustion apparatus since the first use of the combustion apparatus. In addition, the monitor (5) determines what kinds of irregularities have developed in the combustion apparatus during combustion thereof and how many times each kind of irregularity has developed therein since the first use of the combustion apparatus. The memory (6) automatically stores such pieces of information obtained by the monitor (5). Also, the memory stores both a reference number of times of combustion and a reference cumulative time of duration of combustion when such pieces of reference information are set as an initial step. When the actual number of times of combustion has exceeded the reference number of times of combustion or when the actual cumulative total time of duration of combustion has exceeded the reference cumulative time of duration of combustion, whichever comes first, the memory determines it. When the memory has determined it, the display signals to a user of the combustion apparatus the desirability of maintenance work of it The display (7) also displays the three pieces of information automatically stored in the memory when a switch is activated. [Object] In a regenerative-combustion heat treat furnace which is provided with plural pairs of regenerative burners and an exhaust portion for discharging a part of the combustion exhaust gas in the heat treat furnace to the outside of the heat treat furnace, the combustion and the combustion stop of each pair of regenerative burners are properly controlled according to a combustion load in the heat treat furnace and the drop of utilization rate of heat in the heat treat furnace is suppressed. [Solution] In a regenerative-combustion heat treat furnace 10 provided with plural pairs of regenerative burners 20 and an exhaust portion 13 for discharging a part of the combustion exhaust gas in the heat treat furnace 10 to the outside of the heat treat furnace, the plural pairs of regenerative burners are controlled by switching the paired regenerative burners between the combustion and the combustion stop according to a combustion load in the heat treat furnace. In this control, stop time is defined to be the longest at a regenerative burner pair adjacent to the exhaust portion and progressively decreased therefrom.
