The proposed method and apparatus for selecting and feeding articles (2) to blisters or other container include feeding from a first hopper (3), filled with unselected articles (2), a second main hopper (4) with selected size-matching articles (2*). The selection is performed by a tapered inlet section (30a), inside which bigger articles (20) get jammed and stop. The stopped articles are removed by means of a shutter (6) hinged to each inlet section (30a). A sensor (7) detects when the flow of size-matching articles (2*) is interrupted thus operating the relevant shutter. According to a second embodiment the inlet sections are replaced by tubular portions (35). The shutters and tubular portions can be operated cyclically, thus avoiding the need for the sensor (7).

The invention relates to a method and apparatus for sorting round objects (1). In a first sorter (3) of the apparatus in accordance with the invention, objects (1) not meeting a given minimum dimension pass out of the apparatus and are taken away, whereas objects (1) meeting the given minimum dimension (7) are taken to a second sorter (12), through which only objects (1) which do not exceed a predetermined maximum dimension can pass. The second sorter (12) includes a pair of substantially parallel gauging members (14,15), between which acceptable objects (1) can pass, while objects which are too large are taken away from the sorter.

The machine includes a transporting arrangement (1) which comprises magnetic collecting elements (2) which attract magnetically the ends of respective items and carry the items past a plurality of underlying magnetic delivery elements (11 - 14) with the items hanging vertically from the collecting elements (2). When seen in the direction of movement of the collecting elements (2) the delivery rods (11 - 14) are spaced at a progressively diminishing distance from the movement path of the collecting rods (2), this distance being adapted so that the lower ends of the longest items (3) come into contact with the first delivery elements (11) and are drawn loose from a respective collecting element (2) thereby, this procedure being repeated at each classifying station in turn until the shortest item (6) comes into contact with the last, commensurately spaced delivery element (14) and its drawn loose thereby.

The packages are moved from the funnel (3) up the inclined conveyor (4), and from there to a horizontal conveyor (11 , 13) having five sections (8, 9, 10, 11 , 12), it being possible to adjust the speed of some of the sections. The packages are guided from the 3rd section of the horizontal conveyor into and through a recording unit (13) by a translatory movement, where a plurality of cameras (15, 16) record characteristics of the individual package for use in the sorting, recording, compaction and the like. The invention provides a system in which sorting of cans and bottles may take place at a greater speed than before.

Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren, bei dem zur Unterscheidung von Werkstücken voneinander bzw zur Bestimmung der Relativlage von Werkstücken zu einer Bezugsebene geometrische Kenngrößen verwendet werden, wobei das jeweilige Werkstück zunächst innerhalb einer Meßvorrichtung in einer Meßposition positioniert wird, und sodann ein eine Mehrzahl von in seiner Bewegungsrichtung hintereinander angeordnete Meßelemente unterschiedlicher Meßwerte aufweisender Meßtaster von einer Ausgangsposition in einen die Kenngröße(n) aufweisenden Bereich des Werkstückes bis zu einer Endposition bewegt wird, in der eines der Meßelemente am Werkstück anliegt, wonach der Verfahrweg des Meßtasters von seiner Ausgangsposition bis zu seiner Endposition ermittelt und die Differenz zwischen dem Istwert des Verfahrweges des Meßtasters und einem aufgrund von Werkstück-Daten vorausbestimmten Sollwert des Verfahrweges gebildet wird, um ein dem Wert dieser Differenz entsprechendes Signal zu erzeugen.
