A method of synthesizing in a high yield the target fluorine compound having a geminal-difluoro structure by subjecting an easily available carbonyl compound to a two-stage reaction. A compound (1) such as ethyl 4-oxocyclohexanecarboxylate is reacted with either a compound represented by the formula X-Z, such as phosphorus pentachloride, or a compound represented by the formula Z2O (wherein Z is a monovalent group which gives a leaving group of the structure -OZ; and X is chlorine, bromine, or iodine). Subsequently, a fluorinating agent which generates a fluorine anion, such as HF, is caused to act on the reaction product to obtain a fluorine compound (2) such as ethyl 4,4-difluorocyclohexanecarboxylate.

A method for the deoxofluorination of a ketone for the production of a geminal difluoride compound in an industrial scale comprising the following steps: - preparing an educt mixture comprising a ketone and a dialkylaminosulfur trifluoride, - letting flow the educt mixture into a reaction chamber of defined length, diameter and volume, with a flow path having a width perpendicular to the direction of the flow in the range of 1-10 mm, at a temperature of at least 75 °C up to 120 °C, preferably between 80 and 100 °C, to perform the deoxofluorination reaction and obtaining a product mixture - to quench the product mixture with a basic aqueous solution in a cooled reservoir vessel.

A method for preparing bromofluorenes includes a step of dispersing a compound selected from the group consisting of fluorene, fluorenone, and derivatives of fluorene and fluorenone in water to prepare a disperse system. Bromination is initiated by adding bromine Br 2 into the disperse system. Thus, bromofluorenes can be efficiently and economically prepared without using any environmentally harmful organic solvent requiring a high cost to dispose of.

The invention relates to a method for chlorinating ketones which apart from the carbonyl group are inert in relation to triarylphosphine dichlorides, except cyclopropyl methyl ketone. According to said method the ketones are reacted with a chlorinating agent in the presence of triarylphosphine oxides and the quantity of triaryl phosphine oxide, in relation to the quantity of ketone, is between 0.1 and 10 mol. %. The ketones preferably have at least one CH acid proton in the α position in relation to the carbonyl group.

A method for the production of a fluorine-containing aromatic compound is provided which allows the relevant reaction to proceed in a standard reaction vessel such as, for example, a glass vessel at room temperature under an ambient pressure without requiring provision of such special devices as have been necessary heretofore or adoption of harsh reaction conditions. This method comprises causing an aromatic compound (A) having a cyclic skeletal part of 6 to 16 carbon atoms containing a plurality of -C(=O)X groups (wherein X stands for a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or an alkyl group of 1 to 10 carbon atoms) and having the remaining hydrogen atoms unsubstituted or partly or wholly substituted with at least one species of halogen atom to react with a compound (B) represented by the formula: wherein R 1 and R 2 independently stand for an alkyl group of 1 to 6 carbon atoms or a phenyl group.

The claimed manufacturing method for 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane comprises the first process,in which 1,1,1-trifluoro-3-chloro-2-propene is obtained by inducing a reaction between 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and hydrogen fluoride in the vapor phase,and the second process,in which the 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane is obtained by inducing a reaction between 1,1,1-trifluoro-3-chloro-2-propene and hydrogen in the vapor phase,and 1,1,1-trifluoro-3-chloro-2-propene obtained in the first process is supplied to the second process after removing the HC1 by-products. This invention can provide a new economic manufacturing method of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane with high yield and selectivity.
