The present invention relates to a process for recovering metal oxide particles from a spent acid solution containing metal salts, the process comprising the steps of: -- spraying the spent acid solution containing the metal salts into an inlet end of a first chamber of a spray roasting reactor to form droplets of the spent acid solution, wherein the first chamber has the inlet end at an upper portion, wherein a first heating zone is defined by the first chamber; -- supplying a first heat source into the first chamber to the first heating zone, and heating the droplets in the first heating zone to a first temperature to evaporate liquid from the droplets to form dry particles of metal salts and to convert the particles of metal salts to particles of metal oxides; -- directing the particles of metal oxides to a second chamber, wherein a second heating zone is defined by the second chamber; -- supplying a second heat source into the second chamber to the second heating zone, wherein the second heating zone is positioned below and downstream of the first heating zone; -- heating the particles of metal oxides, in the second heating zone, at a second temperature lower than the first temperature for a dedicated final conversion reaction;

The present invention provides a catalyst for production of nitric oxide from ammonia and oxygen. The catalyst has the composition A3-xBxO9-y, wherein A and B are selected from the group Mn, Co, Cr, Fe and Al, x is between 0 and 3 and y is between 0 and 6. The catalyst has a high selectivity towards nitric oxide and a low ignition temperature in the reactor. Further the present invention relates to a method for the production of gas comprising nitric oxide by the catalyst of the present invention. The produced gas has a low content of nitrous oxide.

A wire comprising at least one helically wound wire element is disclosed. The helical winding consists of a platinoid or platinoid alloy wire (20). Also disclosed are assemblies of these wires (20) such as knitted materials, fabrics and felts, and the use of said assemblies as catalysers in the reaction for preparing nitric or cyanhydric acid, and to recover precious metals from these catalysers.
