A diaphragm valve assembly 10 for a respiratory system is provided, comprising a valve housing 12 having a first port 16 arranged for fluid communication with a fluid supply and an outlet 30 spaced from the first port by a valve chamber 68. A diaphragm member 50 selectively controls the flow between the first port and the outlet. The valve housing has an opening 34 across which the diaphragm extends. A lid 14 cooperates with the valve housing to trap the diaphragm member at 50A, forming a seal, and defines and isolates a control chamber 70 between the diaphragm member and the lid. Pin 60 in recess 48 aids in aligning the lid and valve. The lid may have a control port connector formation integrally formed therein. In use, high pressure in the conduit 32 (e.g. from exhalation) lifts the valve sealing flange 52 and support flange 54 off the valve seat 42 and the fluid can exit through the valve chamber 68 to outlet 30. When the pressure in the conduit 32 is lower than the pressure in the control chamber 70, the diaphragm deforms and sealing flange 52 contacts the valve seat 42, closing the valve.

The humidification chamber also has a valve having an actuating member (42) that is movable in response to a change in the level of liquid within the humidification chamber between an open configuration in which the actuating member is disengaged from the primary valve seat such that liquid is able to flow through the fluid inlet into the humidification chamber when the liquid within the humidification chamber is below a predetermined acceptable level, and a closed configuration in which the actuating member is engaged with the primary valve seat such that liquid is prevented from flowing through the fluid inlet into the humidification chamber when the liquid within the humidification chamber is at or above the predetermined acceptable level. The fluid inlet (30) includes a secondary valve seat, and the actuating member (42) is deformable in response to an increase in the level of liquid within the humidification chamber above the predetermined acceptable level to a deformed configuration in which the actuating member engages the secondary valve seat such that liquid is prevented from flowing through the fluid inlet into the humidification chamber.

Respiratory gas delivery apparatus is disclosed that comprises a respiratory mask (30) and a reservoir bag assembly (20). The respiratory mask (30) comprises a mask body (32) defining a cavity, and an inhalation port (42) for enabling passage of gas into the cavity of the mask body (32), the mask body (32) being adapted to fit about the mouth and/or nose of the patient such that respiratory gas can be inhaled by the patient from the cavity. The reservoir bag assembly (20) comprises a flexible bag for containing a reservoir of respiratory gas. The respiratory mask (30) and the reservoir bag assembly (20) are provided with corresponding connectors (60,70) adapted for engagement so as to enable fluid communication between the flexible bag and the respiratory mask (30). The connectors (60,70) are provided with formations (66,78) adapted to interlock upon engagement of the reservoir bag assembly (20) with the respiratory mask (30).
