摘要: Systems and methods for conducting respiratory therapy in a respiratory system can adjust a flow of respiratory gases to a patient based upon a detected patient breath cycle. The respiratory system can include a non-sealed patient interface. The respiratory system can be configured to deliver a high flow therapy. The system can synchronize the flow rate with the detected breath cycle of the patient. The amplitude of the flow rate variation can be based partially on a value selected by the user. The adjustments to the flow rate can be done by controlling the motor speed using a positive feedback system. The adjustments to the flow rate can also be limited by the controller preventing the flow rate from crossing a minimum and/or maximum threshold.

摘要: This invention relates to connectors to be provided into fluid communication or engagement either directly with, or via a component to be associated with, a terminal end of a breathing conduit. In at least one embodiment, the connector comprises a body having a first end and a second end, and an internal lumen for the passage of gas between the ends. The first end engageable with a terminal end of a conduit or a component to be associated therewith. The second end engageable with another connector. An internal surface of the body at the second end comprises internal connection features for connection with another connector to be received internally therein. An external surface of the body comprises one or more external alignment feature(s) for aligning the connector or another connection into an aligned orientation for connection therebetween.

摘要: The present invention discloses a plenum chamber insert for a patient interface for providing a flow of air at a therapeutic pressure to a patient for breathing, the plenum chamber insert comprising: a frame comprising: a plenum chamber insert port; an exterior surface; and a first channel recessed into the frame and below the exterior surface; and a heat and moisture exchanger (HMX) material positioned inside of the frame, the HMX material configured to receive and retain water from gas exhaled by the patient and to desorb retained water into the flow of air at the therapeutic pressure passing through the HMX material during use, wherein the first channel extends radially inward along the exterior surface and towards the plenum chamber insert port to form a flow path that allows air to travel around the frame without passing through the HMX material.

摘要: A breathing circuit for use in respiratory therapy includes an inspiratory tube and an expiratory tube. The inspiratory tube of the breathing circuit has a smooth bore. The expiratory tube of the breathing circuit is corrugated. Preferably, the expiratory tube is vapor permeable. Using the combination of a smooth bore inspiratory tube with a corrugated expiratory tube has the unexpected result of improving the performance of the breathing circuit and its components.

摘要: The invention relates to a patient interface including a positioning and stabilising structure and a mask assembly including a plenum chamber and a seal forming structure, the positioning and stabilising structure including a headgear conduit extending along a crown of the patient's head from a first parietal bone to a second parietal bone;
the plenum chamber including a first plenum chamber receptor assembly;
wherein the first conduit connector assembly is configured to engage with the first plenum chamber receptor assembly, and be rotatable about an axis that extends through the first plenum chamber receptor assembly; and
wherein when the first conduit connector assembly is engaged with the first plenum chamber receptor assembly the first conduit connector assembly is restricted from translating in a first direction perpendicular to the axis, and permitted to translate in an opposite second direction.
