A filler-containing polypropylene resin composition is disclosed, comprising (a) from 30 to 90% by weight of a polypropylene resin, (b) from 2.5 to 38% by weight of an ethylene copolymer composed of from 82 to 98.7 mol % of ethylene, from 1 to 15 mol % of an ester selected from alkyl acrylate and alkyl methacrylates having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety thereof and from 0.3 to 3 mol % of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride, and (c) from 5 to 50% by weight of a filler. Molded products obtained from the composition have improved finishing properties, such as adhesion, coating properties, printability, and the like.

A filler-containing polypropylene resin composition comprises (a) from 27 to 87% by weight of a polypropylene resin, (b) from 3 to 15% by weight of a modified polypropylene resin containing from 0.1 to 3 mol% of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride repeating unit, (c) from 5 to 30% by weight of an ethylene copolymer (melt index 0.5 to 800) composed of 82 to 98.7 mol% of an ethylene repeating unit, 1 to 15 mol% of an ester repeating unit which is Cl-8 alkyl acrylate or methacrylate, and from 0.3 to 3 mol% of an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride repeating unit, and (d) from 5 to 40% by weight of a filler which may have an organosilane coating. The composition can be made by melt-kneading all the components, but preferably by melt-mixing components (a), (b), and (d) and then melt-mixing the resulting mixture with component (c). The resin composition has excellent finishing properties, including adhesion, coating properties, and printability, as well as improved rigidity and thermal properties for use e.g. as automobile parts.

A thermoplastic propylene resin composition of the present invention is obtained by blending an epoxy group containing copolymer (G) and a rubber-like material (H) and/or a modified rubber-like material (I) with a resin composition composed of a polyamide resin (F) and a polypropylene type resin (E) according to claim 1; by blending a polyamide resin (F), an epoxy group containing copolymer (G) and optionally a polypropylene (C) with a graft resin composition (J) obtained by graft copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof onto a mixture of polypropylene (C) and a rubber-like material (H) or; by blending a polyamide resin (F), an epoxy group containing copolymer (G) and optionally a polypropylene (C) with a graft resin composition (J) obtained by graft copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof and an unsaturated aromatic monomer onto a mixture of a polypropylene (C) and a rubber-like material (H). These thermoplastic propylene resin compositions can easily be processed into molded products, films or sheets by injection molding, extrusion molding or the like, giving products which have a good balance in various physical properties and a uniform and smooth appearance. They are suitable for purposes in which especially high heat resistance, impact resistance and low-temperature impact resistance are required.

The modified polypropylene resin composition of the present invention comprises a blend of a resin composition composed of polypropylene type resin (C) selected from the group consisting of a modified polypropylene (A) obtained by graft copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof and an unsaturated aromatic monomer onto a polypropylene, and modified polypropylene (A)/polypropylene (B) composition, and a saturated polyester resin (D), an epoxy group containing copolymer (E), and a basic compound (F) optionally added as a reaction accelerator. The modified polypropylene resin composition according to the present invention is not only good in molding processability but also markedly effective in that it can give molded products much superior in physical properties to those obtained from individual polymers constituting the thermoplastic resin composition. The novel modified polypropylene resin composition provided by the present invention can easily be processed into a molded product, a film, a sheet or the like by a molding method usually used for molding thermoplastic resins, for example, injection molding, extrusion molding or the like, giving a product which has a very good balance among stiffness, heat resistance, impact resistance, scratch resistance, coating properties, oil resistance, chemical resistance, water resistance, etc., and is excellent in appearance uniforming and smoothness. It can be advantageously used for a purpose requiring especially high heat resistance and impact resistance, in particular, low-temperature impact resistance.

A pigment master batch suitable for filler-containing polypropylene compositions is provided. This pigment master batch comprises 100 parts by weight of a propylene homopolymer having a melt flow rate of at least 10 g/10 min. and 30 - 200 parts by weight of a processed pigment prepared by using a metallic salt of a fatty acid, a polyethylene wax or a polypropylene wax as a dispersion medium for pigment. A filler-containing polypropylene composition in which the above pigment master batch is incorporated is superior in dispersibility and balance of properties and can easily be processed into molded articles which are superior in balance of properties such as heat resistance, impact resistance and rigidity.

The thermoplastic elastomer composition has excellent injection moldability and mat appearance. In the production of the thermoplastic elastomer composition, kneading is easy to carry out and a time required for the kneading is considerably reduced.
