摘要:
Hydrocarbon and steam are introduced into a reformer 602 to form a gas mixture including carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, water vapour and hydrogen. After removal of the water vapour, the gas mixture is passed to a carbon dioxide absorption system 617 which employs an organic liquid, such as ethanolamine, to absorb carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide product is taken from the system through an outlet 621 and one part of it is taken as product via a pipeline 620 and the rest is returned to the reformed through an inlet 608. The gas mixture from which carbon dioxide has been separated flows into a PSA plant 622 in which it is separated by pressure swing adsorption into a hydrogen product and a fraction enriched in carbon monoxide. The carbon monoxide-enriched fraction is separated in a further PSA platn 648 to produce a carbon monoxide product.

An improved pressure swing adsorption process is disclosed for the recovery of two individual components from a multicomponent gas mixture. The process utilizes a first group of adsorbent beds selective for the secondary component product and a second group of beds selective for tertiary impurities in the mixture. The gas mixture is passed through the first and second beds in series and high purity primary component product is discharged from the second beds. The secondary component product is recovered by desorption from the first beds. Product recovery is improved by recycling depressurization gas from the first beds and by several novel pressure equalization steps. The process can be used to recover high-purity hydrogen and carbon dioxide from a gas mixture containing these components along with minor amounts of methane, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen.

An integrated pressure swing adsorption/membrane separation process is disclosed for the separation and purification of at least one gas component of a feed gas in which the purge effluent from the pressure swing adsorption part of the system is passed through a membrane separation unit to produce a non-permeate which is utilized as a displacement gas in the pressure swing adsorption part of the system. Desirably, the permeate is also utilized as a purge gas or represssurization gas. The apparatus for carrying out the process is also disclosed.

A method for gas separation of adsorbable components from less adsorbable components on fixed adsorbent beds, comprising the steps of:
a) flowing a feed gas mixture under adsorption pressure to an adsorbent bed to selectively adsorb components from the feed gas onto the adsorbent bed, the bed having a feed end and a product end; and b) displacing the feed gas with a gas having a higher concentration of adsorbable components, whereby less adsorbable components are displaced from a portion of the bed; and c) depressurizing the bed by taking out gas simultaneously from at least two different locations of the bed to recover substantially pure less adsorbable components at the product end of the bed and to recover the adsorbable components from at least one of the different locations.

摘要:
A method of separating at least a first gas from a gaseous mixture, which comprises contacting a gaseous mixture containing a first and a second gas having different chemical compositions in an amount of at least 50% by volume based on the entire mixture with a carbonaceous porous body having a carbon content of at least 85% by weight and containing open cells in a three-dimensional network structure so that the open cells of the porous body form substantial flow passages for the gaseous mixture, thereby to adsorb at least the second gas physically on the porous body.

A process for the enhanced separation of gases comprising:
(a) contacting a feed gas stream (1) at an elevated pressure with a permeable membrane (4) capable of selectively permeating a first component thereof, thereby obtaining a first component enriched, second component depleted permeate portion (6) of said feed stream (1) at a reduced pressure, and a second component enriched, first component depleted non-permeate portion (5) of said feed stream (1) substantially at said elevated pressure; (b) withdrawing said non-permeate gas (5) from the permeable membrane (4); (c) passing said permeate gas (6) to the feed end of an adsorbent bed in a pressure swing adsorption system (9) capable of selectively adsorbing additional amounts of said second component therefrom at an upper adsorption pressure, with unadsorbed, purified first component gas being withdrawn as a high purity gas (10) from the product end of the bed; (d) countercurrently depressurizing the bed to a lower desorption pressure and/or purging said bed (9) to desorb and release a first and second component-containing regeneration stream (11) from the feed end of the bed (9); and (e) recycling said at least a portion of regeneration stream for combination with additional quantities of the feed gas stream, whereby the separation of the first component is achieved at a high purity and desirable recovery levels, with said second component being available at a desirably high pressure level.
