Es wird ein Verfahren zur digitalen Regelung der Flankensteilheit der Ausgangssignale von Leistungsverstärkern und ein zur Durchführung des Verfahrens geeigneter Leistungsverstärker beschrieben. Die Erfassung des Istwertes der Flankensteilheit erfolgt entweder über die Anzahl von Taktimpulsen, die einem Zähler (10) während eines Meßintervalls zugeführt werden, dessen Dauer von der Flankensteilheit abhängig ist. Ein solches Meßintervall wird erzeugt durch Zuführen der Impulse eines Ringoszillators (1), der einen der Leistungsverstärker (2) enthält, zu einem weiteren Zähler (9) bis zu dessen Überlauf. Eine andere Möglichkeit zum Erfassen des Istwertes der Flankensteilheit besteht darin, die Anzahl der Impulse des Ringoszillators (1) während eines Meßintervalls fest vorgegebener Dauer zu zählen. Ist- und Sollwert der Flankensteilheit werden verglichen. Das Vergleichsergebnis ändert den Inhalt eines Links/Rechts- Schieberegisters (19). Seine Parallelausgänge (21) beeinflussen über Steuerleitungen (22) Steuereingänge (23) der Leistungsverstärker, um deren Flankensteilheit durch Zu- oder Abschalten von hinsichtlich ihrer Schaltstrecken parallel geschalteten Ausgangstransistoren zu ändern.

The output signal which appears at the common output connection will exhibit a rise time and a fall time corresponding to the rise and fall of the input signal. A first monitoring device (18) is connected to the output signal to monitor the rise time of the output signal and a second monitoring device (20) is connected to the output signal to monitor the fall time of the output signal. A ramp generator (22) is provided which generates a reference signal which also includes a rise time and a fall time. The two monitor circuits (18, 20) compare the rise and fall times of the output signal with the reference rise time and reference fall time to produce a feedback signal to control the rise and fall times of the output signal in accordance with the reference signal.

A signal peak reduction un it (122) is provided before the filter (126) the includes a filter predictor (146) that predicts the effect of that filter on input symbols by using filt er coefficient values corresponding to the filter impulse response function. Input symbols that are predicted to cause the output signal to exceed a predetermined peak limit value are adjusted. Several examples of suitable algorithms for calculating the necessary peak reduction to be applied to the input symbols are disclosed. The peak reduction unit provides adjusted symbo ls to the filter for processing and communication system output.

An electronic class-D amplifier with intrinsically low distortion employing modulation of the slopes of a triangular-wave carrier reference signal; the modulation being in proportion to the derivative of the input signal. The negation of the distortion is most successful if this derivative signal is shifted in phase and gain to compensate for the closed loop phase and gain of the amplifier. The amplifier includes a pulse width modulator which includes an oscillator (5) with at least one integrator and a first comparator (6), at least one servo-loop amplifier (3), an input signal processor (4) which processes and modifies the input amplifier signal. An output signal of the oscillator produces a carrier reference signal (13) which includes at least positive and negative time derivative components, which are modulated by an output of the input signal processor (4) which is applied to a modulation input of the oscillator (5), whereby at least the symmetry of the carrier reference signal is modulated. An output (11) of the output switching stage is fed back via a negative feedback path (15) to an input of the servo-loop amplifier (3).

The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for the provision of an output signal with adjustable flank pitch, whereby the several, parallel inverter output stages (5, 6; 7, 8; 9, 10; 11, 12) are connected in parallel on the load side. The output stages are controlled with a common trapezoidal signal (C), generated by a ramp signal generator (3). The output transistors (5 to 12) are thus sequentially switched on and off. A precisely adjustable, reduced flank pitch for an output signal with a desired amplifier power can thus be achieved with a low spatial requirement. Furthermore an adjustable reduction in the high-frequency interference emissions from integrated circuits can thus be achieved.

The system design enables a plurality of pairs of users to communicate their channel utilization time periods by using the durations and start or stop times of certain transmissions to signal the start times and durations of later transmissions. Other system users using possibly different communications protocols and different modulation technologies can measure the durations of received transmissions and to infer channel usage based on these durations.

First, one or more characteristics of the SWCC (SWCC Characteristics) are analyzed based on the data stream received by the antenna system from the MT. From the data stream received, an initial condition of the FWCC is also extracted. One or more characteristics of the FWCC (FWCC Characteristics) are predicted based on the SWCC Characteristics and the extracted initial condition, wherein analyzing the SWCC Characteristic and estimating the FWCC Characteristics relying on the feature that the data stream has a plurality of data segments whose Doppler frequencies are close to each other to an extent that the Doppler frequencies are deemed as the same for the purpose of analyzing the SWCC Characteristics.
