摘要:
A casting of metal strip by continuous casting in a twin roll caster is provied. In a twin roll caster, molten metal is introduced between a pair of counter-rotated horizontal casting rolls that are cooled so that metal shells solidify on the moving roll surfaces. The twin roll caster is capable of continuously producing cast strip from molten steel through a sequence of ladles positioned on a turret. In casting thin strip by twin roll caster, the crown of the casting surfaces of the casting rolls varies during a casting campaign. The crown of the casting surfaces of the casting rolls in turn determines the strip thickness profile.

A metallic strip edge flatness monitoring system for a rolling mill comprises one or more thermal imaging devices (105) arranged to monitor temperature or temperature variances across at least one region of interest (108, 115) in the rolling mill. The monitored temperature or temperature variances are input to a flatness control system (107) and a control signal (122) is generated in the flatness control system to modify actuation of actuators (106) in the rolling mill. The region of interest (108, 115) has a width (125) of less than half the width (126) of the metallic strip (101) and comprises a region on each side of the strip. The total width monitored is less than half the total width (126) of the metallic strip.

The invention relates to a method and a device for applying an adjustable tensile-stress distribution, in particular in the edge regions during the cold-rolling of metal strips (16), in particular metal foil, in order to reduce the risk of an excessive build-up of tension and cracks at the edges of the strip, which can lead as a negative consequence to cracks in the strip and to a reduction in production, and in order to improve the surface of the strip and its planarity, even for a relatively high strip displacement speed, and also to reduce strip trimming widths. To achieve these aims, at least one or a combination of two of the following measures are implemented: a) separation of lubrication and cooling of the working rolls by lubricating on the run-in side and cooling on the discharge side, b) additional influencing of the strip edges using a hot edge spray', in particular by spraying (21) rolling oil with differing temperatures in zones, c) use of a special cross-sectional configuration of the working rolls (12, 12') in the vicinity of the strip edges, which creates a partial material build-up during the blooming pass, said build-up forming a longer strip edge with subsequent passes, thus counteracting the risk of an excessive build-up of tensile stress.
