The invention provides phosphate-based ceramic coatings comprising aerogel particles, in particular such that are obtainable by reacting a component mixture A with a component mixture B, wherein component mixture A comprises water and acidic phosphate; and component mixture B comprises water and alkaline oxide and/or hydroxide; and wherein component mixtures A and/or B comprise aerogel particles. Further, the invention provides a method for coating a substrate with a sprayable phosphate-based ceramic coating which comprises the steps of (I.) separately providing component mixtures A and B, (II.) mixing component mixtures A and B; and (III.) spraying the mixture obtained in step II. onto the substrate to obtain a layer of phosphate-based ceramic coating comprising aerogel particles. The invention also provides a laminate comprising a protective layer and a layer of phosphate-based ceramic coating comprising aerogel particles as well as practical uses of such coatings and laminates, e.g. as fire-protection and insulation material, and products comprising the coatings and laminates of the invention.

The invention relates to a means and a method for sealing constructions. The aim of the invention is to provide a means and a method for sealing constructions, which enable novel and already existing constructions to be permanently sealed in a flexible, high-quality and economical manner, by introducing a core sealing element. To this end, the means for sealing constructions consists of a mixture of soil, preferably argillaceous materials and/or coarse clay, and an additive which breaks open the water surrounding the grain. According to the inventive method, the mixture of soil and additive is sprayed into the construction or over the surface thereof.

Disclosed are formulations adapted to form a foamed cementitious composition, the foamed cementitious composition itself, a method of forming a hydraulic binder foam, and a method of conveying and applying the resulting foam to a substrate. A pumpable cementitious slurry is formed, the slurry is mixed with a gas such as air, and is subjected to mechanically created turbulence to generate gas bubbles and create a foam, which preferably is stabilized by a foam stabilizing agent such as polyvinyl alcohol present in the slurry. The foam is then conveyed to a nozzle or other suitable dispense point from which it is applied, for example sprayed, preferably uniformly, onto a substrate to be coated. Prior to dispensing, a set accelerator is preferably injected, which causes the foam to gel, which in turn improves the hangability of the product on a substrate. The spray material adheres to the substrate and hardens to form an insulative coating on the substrate. Also disclosed are dry compositions comprising a hydratable cementitious binder, a mechanical foam stabilizing agent, and optionally a fibrous component, set retarder and air entraining agent, said composition providing, on the addition of water, gas and mechanical turbulence, a settable foam which is capable of spray application to a steel structural member and which, after spray application, is adherent to the member in the foamed state and after setting. The foam after setting, forms a fire and heat protective adherent coating on the member.

An object of the present invention is to provide a wet spray-on fireproofing composition with superior fire resistance properties, which is highly fluid during pumping and has superior pumping efficiency, yet ceases to be fluid after being sprayed on, enabling thick application, and which has no risk of cracking or lifting away from the surface of steel work due to shrinking despite containing no mineral fibers. The present invention is characterized in that in a wet spray-on fireproofing composition for spray-on application after merging and mixing a slurry component and an aluminum sulfate component in aqueous solution in a spraying nozzle, the total solid content of the slurry component includes as essential compositional components: (a) 20 percent by weight or more of gypsum; (b) 5 to 40 percent by weight of slaked lime and/or quick lime; (c) organic fibers and/or light-weight fillers; and water; and the content of elements which enhance fire resistance properties after drying is 20 percent by weight or more.
