Abstract:
A proposal is made for a la,bel (1) which can be adhered to an article (5), more particularly to a beverage bottle, and can be detached again in a washing liquid at a washing temperature of at least 50°C, in the form of a laminate at least with the following layers: a biaxially stretched polymeric film layer (9) which shrinks at the washing temperature, a printed decoration layer (11), and an adhesive layer (13), more particularly a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, for adhering the label (1) to the article (5). The polymeric film layer (9) is designed in such a way that in the laminate at the washing temperature within a maximum time span of less than 5 minutes, in particular less than 3 minutes, it attains degrees of contraction in its two stretching directions which differ from one another by less than 50% and are preferably lower than 50%. As a result of this, whereas the adhesive force between the label (1) and the article (5) is high, the label (1) can be washed off from the article (5) without splitting.
Abstract:
Die-cuttable and printable adhesive containing labelstocks for use in preparing die cut adhesive labels, and methods of preparing the labelstocks and die cut labels are described. The labelstocks comprise extruded machine direction oriented monolayer or multilayer films and an adhesive layer. The monolayer films comprise a mixture of about 25% to 80% by weight of a propylene polymer or copolymer, and from about 20% to about 75% by weight of a polyethylene. The films are stretch oriented in the machine direction at a temperature at about or above the melting temperature of the polyethylenes.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Tape backing compositions of the present invention comprise a blend of a first relatively flexible and second relative inflexible polymer, the two polymers having a melting temperature of at least about 93° C. (200° F.). Tape backing compositions of the present invention are especially useful for making flexible films and tapes. Such films and tapes advantageously possess properties particularly useful for applications involving elevated temperatures, such as auto paint masking tape applications, where the flexible film is used as a backing. In one embodiment, the backing is chloride-free. In another embodiment, the backing is essentially free of plasticizers.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a polyacrylate having a broad bimodal molecular weight distribution due to a polymerization method. These acrylate pressure-sensitive adhesive compounds are preferably processed from the melt. The flow viscosity is reduced by the low-molecular portion, and the high-molecular portion imparts a high resistance to shearing of the acrylate pressure-sensitive adhesive compounds after an appropriate cross-linking.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a novel method wherein UV-initiated thermal cross-linking occurs according to a hotmelt method for producing polyacrylate thermoplastic adhesive substances, wherein a polymer is produced from an acrylate-based comonomer mixture containing specific monomers which contain at least one functional group which can react with a photochemically produced base, optionally, by adding a catalyst. Said polymer is then coated on a carrier as part of the coating method or subsequently radiated and is finally thermally treated. Cross-linking occurs between the polymer and the photochemically produced base. Structural cross-linking of the flat pressure-sensitive adhesive substance can be carried out if radiation occurs through a mask.
Abstract:
A storage/dispensing assembly, e.g., a roll or stack, of non-woven pressure sensitive adhesive tape comprising one or more multilayer sheets of pressure sensitive adhesive tape arranged such that the adhesive layer in the assembly of an overlying non-woven pressure sensitive adhesive tape is in direct contact with the underlying nonwoven backing layer of non-woven pressure sensitive adhesive tape. The non-woven backing layer is formed at least in part of fibers having a denier of greater than 15 so as to decrease the level of fibers disengagement when an overlying nonwoven pressure sensitive adhesive tape is removed from the assembly.
Abstract:
A flexible energy-carrying circuit device has reduced flame retardancy while maintaining desired levels of adhesion between the energy-carrying filaments and the substrate with use of a flame-retardant pressure-sensitive adhesive comprised of a polymer of one or more acrylic esters with bromine and phosphorous compounded into the polymer to provide an adhesive having inherent flame retardancy. Small quantities of antimony trioxide may be dispersed in the adhesive to enhance flame retardancy.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cloth adhesive tape for binding a wire harness used for binding the insulated conductors of a wire harness. An adhesive layer 12 is put on the one surface of a substrate 11 made of a non-woven fablic and having small through holes 15 throughout the area thereof, and a resin layer 13 is put on the other surface of the substrate 11, and a release agent layer 14 is put on the resin layer 13. This can prevent the delamination of the substrate 11 and can improve a sound-damping property, a hand-tearing property, and a fire resistance.
