    摘要： An image recognition method and device detects an object mark reliably even when the mark is defaced with a different color. RGB signals are transmitted to color extraction unit (10). The color extraction (10) unit has a characteristic color extraction block (17) to extract the characteristic color of the object mark. A binary image is generated from the extracted pixels which are the color of the mark and stored in storage device (11). A mark detection unit (12) detects the location of the mark in the stored image data and an image extraction unit (13) extracts the region where the mark is located and obtains a feature count. A matching unit (14) compares the feature count with a reference pattern and finds the goodness of fit. A control unit (16) subjects the goodness of fit value to threshold value processing to determine whether this is a non-reproducible document. If the mark has been defaced with black ink, the pixels constituting the mark are extracted by a likely color extraction block (18). A binary image is generated and stored in storage device (11). Thus, the defaced mark can undergo the same recognition processing as the normal mark, and both can be recognized.

    摘要： An image reading apparatus includes a first reading element for receiving visible light in reflected light from a color document and reading image data corresponding to the visible light as electric signals, and a second reading element for receiving infrared light in reflected light from the color document and reading image data corresponding to the infrared light as electric signals. The image reading apparatus thus reads the image data not only from the visible light but also from the infrared light. Consequently, the image reading apparatus is capable of reading a special distinguishing pattern of copy-prohibited printed matter printed with special ink, such as infrared absorbing ink, as well as ordinary image data, and thereby preventing counterfeiting of copy-prohibited printed matter.

An information carrying sheet of securities, identification cards and the like which is used for the above-mentioned copying machine and method, and provided with an illegal copying preventive image pattern in which the existence of the above-mentioned image pattern is hardly discriminated by the naked eye. An illegal copying preventive image pattern which prevents an unnecessary exposure by combining a plurality of patterns having an absorption in different regions used in the sheet and incorporating a dummy pattern, and which is difficult to perform falsifying/altering/counterfeiting action; and an ink composition which is used for the image pattern, and has a high IR absorption.
    According to the present invention, whether copying is acceptable or not can be promptly judged with a less memory capacity to shorten copying processing time, and falsifying/altering/counterfeiting action can be securely prevented in such a manner that the application of an illegal copying preventive processing is not noticed easily by a third party.
