The device further includes a scrolling system which makes each of said means available in turn for receiving commands that are inputted manually. The device has a code accepting unit which receives an inputted code to bring the device to a condition in which a selected one of said means can be activated. The device is deactivated by insertion of said code for a second time. By providing the device with a sound generator and a sound receiver it is possible to interconnect the devices so that activating or deactivating one is used to activate or deactivate a series. Likewise the establishment of an alarm condition at one device can be used to trigger alarm conditions at other devices.

Also provided is a radio frequency device that sends radio frequency signals, the radio frequency device being capable of sensing the magnetic field and generating a radio frequency response. In the proximity detection system, the generator generates the magnetic field for a first predefined time period, and thereafter senses for a radio frequency response signal from the radio frequency device within a second predefined time period. The invention also provides for shaping proximity detection zones by overlaying magnetic field boundaries to produce a different boundary. The invention also provides for varying the strength of magnetic fields by adjusting a width of a timed pulse.

Systems and methods provide a position sensing component that carries a gravity sensor sized and configured to provide a position dependent output indicative of the relative sleep position of the individual. The position sensing component can take the form of a strap sized and configured to be worn about the neck, or be integrated into a therapeutic oral appliance sized and configured to be worn within an oral cavity of the individual. The position sensing component is worn by the individual during sleep. The systems and methods compare the position dependent output with one or more benchmark conditions that correlate to a desired sleep position, and generate an alarm output when the individual is not in a desired sleep position, to thereby influence or alter the individual's sleep position to return the individual to a sleep position that correlates to a desired sleep position.

A system and method are disclosed for preventing accidents in a vehicle. The system comprises an eye gaze detector for receiving an eye gaze vector from a driver. The system additionally comprises a proximity sensor for detecting locations of nearby objects and their velocities. A vehicle accident risk is determined based on the nearby object location and velocity. Additionally, the driver's knowledge of vehicle circumstances is determined based on the nearby object location and velocity as well as the eye gaze location. Responsive to the driver's knowledge and the vehicle accident risk, a vehicle alert is activated.

The present invention includes methods and devices for providing. According to some implementations, radio frequency identification ("RFID") tags are positioned at various locations throughout a building. Building locations can be determined from the RFID tags. Emergency service providers may be equipped with a portable device that includes at least one RFID reader for reading the RFID tags. Some implementations involve transmitting the RFID tag data to a control center from which the emergency services are coordinated. The emergency service workers' current and prior locations can be determined by the portable devices and/or at the control center. In preferred implementations, emergency service provider location information can be provided to control center personnel and to emergency service providers in real time.
