    摘要: Method and apparatus for splicing together metal webs (26) with the ends thereof being butted against each other or slightly lapped on each other. In the metal web splicing apparatus, there is provided a reduction roller (12) which comprises a hold portion (12A) having a first radius and a projected portion (12B) having a second radius slightly greater than the first radius. With use of the reduction roller (12), while both sides of the weldedly spliced portion of the metal webs (26) are being held and fixed by the hold portion (12A) of the roller (12), and weldedly spliced portion is rolled by the projected portion (12B) of the roller (12), thereby preventing escape of the rolled portion.

The difference between the width of the outer circumferential bead portion (the width L1 of a grinding portion (12)) and the width L2 of the inner circumferential bead portion (13) in a direction from the first metal pipe (21) toward the second metal pipe (22) is equal to or smaller than 40% with respect to the average value of the width L1 of the outer circumferential bead portion and the width L2 of the inner circumferential bead portion (13).
