摘要: Not only a reduction in the load resistant performance of a structural member in a vehicle body having a quenched portion with a tensile strength of 1,470 MPa or greater, but also a reduction in the shock absorbing performance associated with the HAZ softening by welding are suppressed. In a joining structure (10) for a member in a vehicle body in which a first member (11) that is made of steel, has a closed hollow cross-section having no outward flange, and is provided with a quenched portion having a tensile strength of 1,470 MPa or greater, a base material portion having a tensile strength of less than 700 MPa, and a transition portion (17) between the quenched portion (16) and the base material portion (18) in a longitudinal direction thereof, and a second member (12) that is made of steel and overlaps the first member (11) are welded to each other in an overlapping portion, the overlapping portion exists over the base material portion (18) from the quenched portion (16) of the first member (11) through the transition portion (17), and a welding portion (13) formed by welding exists in the transition portion (17) or the base material portion (18) in the first member (11).

摘要: A reinforcement beam for a vehicle bumper system comprises a single sheet deformed to define first and second tubes sharing a common single center wall. A channel rib is formed on each tubes and a crevice rib over the center leg forms a third rib. Edges of the sheet are deformed to a radius so that their surface consistently engages an associated radiused corner formed on ends of the center leg, which facilitates consistent abutting line engagement of material surfaces, and thus facilitates consistent welding. In a preferred beam, front wall sections of each tube are coplanar and form a face of the beam, with each channel rib and crevice rib providing added stiffness to the beam, and yet nothing extends forward of the coplanar front wall sections. Related apparatus and methods are also disclosed.

摘要: The present disclosure provides a method for manufacturing a crimp terminal that enables high-quality laser welding on a workpiece by controlling the intensity and sweep rate of laser light to be radiated onto a weld portion to appropriate values. The present disclosure also provides the crimp terminal. By radiating and sweeping laser light on a workpiece that has a part where a metal plate material is bent into a tubular shape, and then laser-welding a brought-together portion where the end portions of the metal plate material in the bending direction of the part are brought together, to manufacture a crimp terminal in which the part serves as a crimp portion. A weld bead that is formed at the weld portion as a result of laser irradiation has a width of 80 µm to 390 µm, and preferably 172 µm to 273 µm.

摘要: A component is formed by welding a plurality of sheets of metal to form a blank with a number of weld nuggets, placing the blank between a die section and a lid section, heating the die section to heat the blank, and introducing a pressurized gas between the lid section and the die section to press the blank into a mold in the die section to form a component. The weld nugget (1302) elongates between about 1 percent and 25 percent less than other portions (1304, 1306) of the blank (1300) during the forming of the titanium sructure.
