摘要:
The present invention relates to a non-woven fabric (1) that is formed from a base part (10) that spreads out in a planar shape and from a plurality of projecting parts (12) that protrude in a thickness direction (Th) from the base part. Each of the projecting parts has a projecting surface part (12T). Each of the projecting surface parts is configured such that the fiber density of the projecting surface part increases toward one side in a prescribed direction that is a surface direction of the non-woven fabric.

A nonwoven for use in a thermal liner for protective apparel includes 1-45 wt % of a first inherently heat resistant fiber excluding an aramid, and a balance of a second heat resistant fiber. The nonwoven excludes wool and has a thickness less than 3 mm and a basis weight of less than 2.9 osy (100 gsm). In another embodiment, the insulating layer for protective apparel includes a nonwoven including an inherently flame resistant fiber and fibers being inherently resistant to moisture absorption. The inherently flame resistant fiber is different from said inherently resistant to moisture absorption fiber. The nonwoven has an equivalent or better thermal protective performance (TPP) and a lower basis weight than an industry standard nonwoven consisting of a nonwoven of para-aramids or meta-aramids or a blend of both.

The present invention is directed to a fluid-entangled laminate web and the process and apparatus for its formation as well as end uses for the fluid-entangled laminate web. The laminate web includes a support layer and a nonwoven projection web having a plurality of projections which are preferably hollow. As a result of the fluid-entangling process, entangling fluid is directed through the support layer and into the projection web which is situated on a forming surface. The force of the entangling fluid causes the two layers to be joined to one another and the fluid causes a portion of the fibers in the projection web to be forced into openings present in the forming surface thereby forming the hollow projections. The resultant laminate has a number of uses including, but not limited to, both wet and dry wiping materials, as well as incorporation into various portions of personal care absorbent articles and use in packaging especially food packaging where fluid control is an issue.

There is provided a nonwoven fabric comprising heat-expanding particles, having bulk and high strength, and a method for producing the nonwoven fabric. The method of producing a nonwoven fabric according to the invention comprises a step of supplying a first sheet-forming material comprising fiber and water onto a belt, to form a first sheet layer on the belt (12), a step of spraying a high-pressure water jet onto the first sheet layer to form grooves extending in the machine direction on the surface (13, 14), a step of forming a second sheet-forming material comprising fibers, heat-expanding particles and water into a sheet to form a second sheet layer (16, 17), a step of layering the first sheet layer and the second sheet layer to form a third sheet layer (15, 17), a step of drying the third sheet layer (19), and a step of spraying high-pressure steam onto the third sheet layer to expand the heat-expanding particles (20, 21). The nonwoven fabric of the invention is provided with a fiber-containing first layer having a plurality of grooves extending in the longitudinal direction and aligned in the transverse direction, on the first surface, and is provided with a second layer comprising expanded heat-expanding particles and fibers, on the second surface.
