The floor slab comprises straight zones connecting in two directions, i.e. lengthwise and broadwise, the shortest distance between the areas of the floor slab above the piles. The floor slab (14) is reinforced by a combination of: (a) fibres (22) distributed over the volume of the floor slab (14); and (b) steel bars (16, 16') located in those straight zones. This construction reduces considerably the amount of reinforcement steel, increases the bearing capacity and enables to reduce the time for making such a construction.

A steel fibre (10) for reinforcement of high-performance concrete or mortar has a length ranging from 3 mm to 30 mm, a thickness ranging from 0.08 mm to 0.30 mm, and a tensile strength greater than 2000 MPa. The steel fibre is provided with anchorages (12, 24) the dimension of which in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the steel fibre is maximum 50 % of the thickness. These anchorages provide an effective staying in the high-performance concrete without influencing the mixability of the steel fibres in a negative way.

Such a composition is suitable for application on elongated objects of steel, covered with a coating of a material having an electrode potential, exceeding the electrode potential of steel or having a rate of corrosion, which is less than the rate of corrosion of steel. Further the invention relates to elongated objects of steel, in particular steel cords treated with a corrosion inhibiting composition according to the invention. Another object of the invention is a process for treating elongated objects of steel with the corrosion inhibiting composition according to the invention. Rubber articles, which contain elongated objects of steel like steel cord, treated with the above-mentioned composition do also fall within the scope of the invention.

A communication cable (10) comprises optical fibres (16) for the transmission of information and a tensile member for preventing the optical fibres (16) from being put under load. The tensile member is a single steel wire (12) or an open steel strand of two to five steel wires (24, 26, 30). The tensile member is covered with a synthetic coating (14). The adhesion between the tensile member and the synthetic coating is so strong that in a standard adhesion test only small strips of synthetic coating with a length less than 1 cm can be pulled off manually from the coated tensile member so that the production of hydrogen is limited.
