A container and container system are provided to reduce a loss of coffee aroma ingredients from a roasted coffee. The container includes a main body having walls made of a laminate of plastics materials. Contained in the main body is a roasted coffee which naturally releases aromatic ingredients. The laminate includes an outer or structural layer and a thin inner barrier layer, with the inner layer being in close proximity or in contact with the roasted coffee. The body has an Aroma Retention Effectiveness (ARE) of the aromatic ingredients of less than about 30%. Preferably, the outside plastic layer is HDPE, the inner barrier layer is EVOH, and the roasted coffee is fresh roast and ground coffee or roasted whole coffee beans. A method for reducing a loss of aroma ingredients is also disclosed. In accordance with the method, a main body of a container unit is made which includes an outer layer and an inner barrier layer.

A stacking area (300) of the conveyor system includes a nose conveyor (302) that extends and retracts to deposit each carrier sheet onto a pair of initial supports (304). The initial supports (304) reciprocate away from each other in opposing directions to drop the carrier sheet onto a subsequent level (310), with the initial supports (304) reciprocating each time a carrier sheet is deposited thereon.

The present invention relates to a process for producing glucosinolates, particularly glucoraphanin, from cruciferous plants. More particularly, a method is provided for producing glucosinolates from agricultural by-products and waste. The general method comprises providing a mixture of glucosinolate-containing plant material and liquid, heating the mixture to inactivate enzymes in the plant material, contacting the heat inactivated mixture with an anion exchange membrane whereby at least a portion of the glucosinolates are extracted from the liquid and absorbed onto the anion exchange membrane, and releasing the glucosinolates from the anion exchange membrane. Preferably, the extraction and release steps are repeated at least once. The glucosinolates produced by the method of the invention may be incorporated into a variety of food products, pharmaceuticals, and health supplements.

A resealable closure (11) for a container (10) in which package integrity is indicated by a structure which breaks and/or produces an audible sound when the resealable closure (11) is opened for a first time. The package integrity feature, in one form includes at least one strip (50,52,54) initially affixed to two portions which comprise the resealable closure so that upon opening the resealable closure for a first time, at least one of the strips (52) breaks, thereby producing the audible sound. The strips may include a weakened portion such as a narrowing (52c). Integrity of the package is indicated by an intact strip viewable upon opening the resealable closure and conversely, a broken or non-intact strip would indicate that the resealable closure has been previously opened. Package integrity may also be shown by a movable second panel (42) or movable die cut tab portions (25).
