A device is provided to assist in the cutting, mitrering, chamfering and similar operations of ceramic and other tiles. The device can be readily attached, and subsequently removed from, a cutting implement such as an angle grinder or a circular- or jig-saw. The device includes an elongate L-shaped member (1). Approximately mid-length of the member (1), there is a slot (2). A first shaped rigid arm (3) is fixed at one of its ends (4) to one end (5) of the elongate member (1) by rivets (6). Near the other end (7) of the arm (3) there is a hole (8). A second shaped rigid arm (9) is fixed at one of its ends (10) to the other end (11) of the elongate member (1) by rivets (12). Near the other end (13) of the arm (9) there is a hole (14). The device is affixed to a hand held angle grinder (15) by the arms (3) and (9), the arm (3) being attached to one side of the casing of the angle grinder (15) by a casing bolt (16) passing through the hole (8), and the arm (9) being attached to the other side of the casing of the angle grinder (15) by a casing bolt (17) passing through the hole (14). The blade (18) of the angle grinder (15) passes through the slot (2) in the elongate member (1).

A system for clamping sheet material against an underlying support surface employs linear arrays of clamp units, each unit including a separate clamping member having a head portion with a flat top surface and a peripheral element constructed to engage an edge portion of the sheet material. The clamping members are disposed in spaced relationship along marginal portions of the support surface, and actuating means is providing for effecting movement of the clamping members between release and clamp positions. The cutting head utilizes a blade magazine-mounting slide, the travel of which is positively limited and which has a unique pin arrangement for facilitating the interchange of separate magazines adapted for specific cutting modes.

Die Schwenkachse (37) der Führungseinrichtung (15) liegt in der Ebene der Auflage (13) und in der Schnittebene des Schneiddrahtes (19). Daher sind die Abmessungen einer zu schneidenden Platte immer vom gleichen Ort auf der Auflage (13) her abzumessen. Massstäbe können daher fest auf der Auflage (13) angebracht sein. A method and an apparatus for contouring the shoulder areas (38) of retreaded tires (54) is disclosed. A cutter (62), preferably having a heated blade (66), is disposed proximate at least one shoulder of a retreaded tire (54). The retreaded tire (54) is then rotated, while the cutter blade (66) is moved into contact with the side wall (16) of the tire (54) proximate the joint between the tire casing (12) and the tread layer (50). A portion of the tire casing (12) and the tread layer (50) is cut away along the entire shoulder area (38) of the retreaded tire (54) to provide an aesthetically pleasing contoured surface extending from the tire casing (12) to the tread layer (50).

An improved breast prosthesis or mammary implant (20), is provided of a type known per se, comprising a single or multiple lumen elastic shell or envelope (23), for example of moulded silicone, in which an aperture formed in the shell for removal from a mould is subsequently sealed with a silicone patch (24), thus forming internal lumen(s) which can then be filled by either the manufacturer or the surgeon with a fluid or gel. A substantially seamless join between the patch and the shell is formed by means of an aperture with a chamfered edge (22), and applying and bonding a patch to one side, preferably the inside, of the shell such that a seamless and ridgeless join between the patch and the shell is formed to the exterior. A method and apparatus for performing a chamfer trimming operation and applying the patch are also disclosed. A double chamfer aperture edge construction filled in with an overlay patch and an underlay patch is also disclosed.
